So, I used to read a lot of true crime/serial killer stuff, and one thing that came up a lot in profiling (which is silly but bear with me), was that a lot of serial killers had tried to be in law enforcement

Michelle Haas did not seek to bring her case to the Texas Supreme Court. That's the end of the road. We won.
In 2024, I wrote a story for Texas Monthly about Michelle Haas, whose complaints resulted in the removal of books about slavery from historic Texas slave plantations. Haas sued us, alleging defamation, and was represented by the preferred lawyer of billionaire J.P. Bryan. Today, we won on appeal.

The thing that always drove me nuts about the "we can't void student debt, that's wanting a pony unicorn" is that student debt is almost entirely a Reagan thing. I've driven cars older than that. It's like "we can't just get rid of ICE." Fuck you!

it’s breathtaking to see how this country is in decline by every possible metric
Devastated to learn that Univ of Texas at Austin is closing the American Studies dept. The years I spent there earning my PhD were formative, making me the teacher, thinker, and writer I am today. I've passed on what I learned at UT to thousands of students over the past 20 years. Just awful.
