Writer hack: Instead of telling your children bedtime stories, tell them the story you are working on and when you reach a "how" or a "why" that you haven't figured out yet, just ask them: What do you think should happen next?

They will probably come up with a solution you haven't thought of yet.

If you want some good news this morning, I showed my three boys the PM doing the six/seven thing and now they have all stopped doing it.

I go to a lot of schools to read for the children and I feel this acutely every time I step into a teachers lounge.
every time i get the opportunity to go to some really high-end restaurant in nyc it leaves me feeling uncomfortable in ways i haven't experienced elsewhere. like my body knows on a cellular level i am not actually allowed there

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

be the bigolas dickolas you wish to see in the world.
FWIW: Mention books you like or you think others might like. You never know what'll happen:

I saw The Sad Bastard Cookbook here so I mentioned it on Masto (in a "in case you need this" sense). It kinda went viral (1K shares). It jumped to a high ranking on Amazon and then they got media attention.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

I take full responsibility 🫡
There is a cat in my house BUT NO OPEN WINDOWS.

This is a horror story by @hildur.bsky.social and here I am, completely uprepared with no handy plans for how to get rid of a body.

If my loved ones don’t know what to give me they can just ask and I will tell them it’s always the same answer: Socks.

Having just finished ‘The Night Guest’, i couldn’t concur more about its literary chops. Brilliantly observed, uniquely constructed, existentially framed and flush with Hildur’s compelling prose. A truly banging read.

Last year I wrote a book in Icelandic, translated it to English and then rewrote it in English. That rewrite completely broke my brain but I did it, and now I am doing it AGAIN (new book) and I am very happy to tell you that this time around it's not completely breaking my brain, only crumbling it.
