Cis allies, centre trans womens voices right now. Include trans men as well so transphobes can't continue their purposeful crusade of erasing and ignoring us because we're inconvenient to the transphobic narrative used to persecute trans women and police bodies

Ten years ago, on this day 15 July, the Irish Oireachtas passed the Gender Recognition Act 2015 (An tAcht um Inscne a Aithint, 2015).
It was a piece of legislation that allowed me to live my life authentically & I'm forever grateful.

I think the transphobic comment that upset me most came from the mother of a trans boy who proclaimed to be an ally but told me "I'm not a real trans" because I'm not hyper masculine and her son would never think of touching feminine things.
That specifically upsets me because I was like that 1/4

My favourite deranged transphobic argument was "Well what if a trans woman was in the ladies when a cis woman goes into labour, how will they know how to deliver a baby??" I guess despite being AFAB I missed the training course where you learn to deliver a baby in a public toilet

Trans people have been excluded from every single step. From Cass. From the Supreme Court. From the EHRC. From politics. From the media. And still, trans people will be blamed when this explodes in everyone's faces despite trans people warning, for years, that this is what would happen.

This really feels like their way of answering the "what about trans men?" question without conceding that trans men are in fact men and shouldn't be in women's spaces, because if they said that they'd have to come up with some extreme bullshit to explain why the opposite doesn't apply to trans women

I'm not saying we definitely shouldn't, but if we boycott the consultation, every subsequent legal challenge will be weaker.
Yes they will likely ignore our responses. But that's a fact we might want to be able to bring up in Court, to international human rights bodies, and to the Government.
