Happy Birthday to George Lowe
George Lowe was the phenomenal primary voice of Space Ghost from his casting in 1994, to his passing in 2025; and was also known for his contributions as a radio announcer, folk artist and folk art collector

This was the stuff/copout from tactically-deficient coaches I grew up with a quarter of a century ago that then eventually lead to people conversely placing too much importance on tactics in football as a subconscious overcompensation.
Phil also says that there wasn't a change in system or tactics tonight, and that it came down to "Menality... They (San Diego) beat us because they wanted it more," #RCTID

Yes but also...what.

The AFL's new Wildcard Round reminded me of the bonkers trivia fact that in 1916 Fitzroy won the wooden spoon and the premiership in the same year. Only four teams played due to WWI so even though Fitzroy finished on the bottom they still made the finals, then won the grand final.

- Appointing Merrick after talking up the need for a fuck-you technical director
- Appointing and persisting with Gustavsson right to the end of the most important Matildas cycle
- Reappointing Arnold *with greater NT program oversight*
- Appointing and persisting with Vidmar as Olyroos coach

Hugely embarrassing for Football Australia. Complete fuck up appointing him.

On one negative hand, and as much as GTA is historically worth the extra polish and consequent delays, the ridiculous workload required by so many big AAA titles is a worsening stain on modern gaming for which one increasingly questions if and how much the trade off of higher parameters is worth it.

This is one of those things that I didn't notice it at the time, but my brain probably did. There's so many details in this movie that really sell the illusion that these cartoon characters are interacting with real people. You're caught up in the world and don't question it.

Lighting and storyboarding and animation and staging and soundtrack and mixing and color grading and acting and directing all had to show up and it had to have been a mega pain in the ass and it's perfect. It's a perfect movie. They literally don't make them like this anymore.

Shoutout to OKC, even with two of their main guys missing a lot of it so far, starting 8-0 themselves and already looking a solid bet to win 70-something games themselves, which is absurd in the West.
And yet, I stand by all the quoted ponderings come May/June. Going to be damn interesting season.

And we've been here before 10 years ago when it looked like GSW had it all figured out in their 73-win season that followed their own deserved but kissed-on-the-dick-with-opposition-injuries earlyish breakthrough championship, before their main kick to the nuts followed Draymond's punch to LeBron's.

Incredible. And absolutely the type of stuff I lament not being in sports video games that instead strived for realism (and then the plague of microtransactions) far too much to a fault.
Even if they can't be as...improper as this, I want the option of goofiness, DAMMIT. Video games should be fun!

Aus:
1. France QF overall. Being at both, big Nov 16 2005 vibes + parallels
2. Denmark Ro16. Devoid of the stress/remnant dismay of the Nigeria defeat, much less stress than the France game. Kind of the sweet spot of that campaign
3. Foord in general #StandingUp with her magnificent all-round play

For the Women's game...
These are my top 3 moments from WWC 2023, from an Aussie perspective:
1: PSO v France
2: Sam Kerr stunner in the SF
3: 4-0 over Canada in Melbourne
Top 3 outside of Aus matches
1: NZ v Norway
2: PSO between US v Sweden
3: France v Jamaica
That is all.

Beautiful.
(Although it also makes my Brisbane, Australia self yet again lament summer not really being a desirable thing here, with our big summer sport equivalent in cricket always being more of a mental relief to how awful summers can persistently be and winter instead being where it's at.)
