All this change is happening while my daughter starts preschool and the leaves change colors and my dad gets diagnosed with Parkinson's. All within a week. I have never been more aware of the relentlessly destructive force of time and the inescapable death that comes for us all than in this moment.

Working in Corporate Comms has aged me twice as fast in half the time, but it pays well and I had a genuinely empathetic designer for a boss.

I kinda planned on shutting my brain off and being a lifer but this year the headlines really upended everything and I need to feed my kid.

I literally handed off a video project file on Friday and told the other guy "yea I scaled the one person's tiny video chat window to full screen, rubbed it in the director's face, and they said they're going forward with it."

You think so? On the surface it seems like it'd be a solid niche game like that Power Rangers fighter, and the production seems like a step up from the Nicktoons Smash game.

Not knowing the pedigree is kinda muddying it for me so I really need to see some actual matches.

This is an exact encapsulation of why I moved to Bluesky.

No amount of handwringing in the Atlantic about how I owe some eternal Promethean suffering to the discourse is going to make me stay on a site I hate, that stopped doing anything for me professionally years ago.

Well – no. Bluesky may or may not be, as one centre-right friend who felt unwelcome put it, “self-righteous island”. But the idea that’s why we went is nonsense. That I’ve largely stopped posting on a site that’s done more to shape my career and social circle than the rest of the internet combined is less about avoiding rival opinions (I love arguing with people who are wrong!) than with the fact the site simply became unusable. It stopped generating the things (good jokes, interesting debate, clicks) I wanted; it became extremely good at generating the things (racists, pornbots, racist pornbots) I did not.
