Since we've rocketed past our winter fundraiser goal, how about a little treat to celebrate?

Give us just a second here...
December 5, 2025 at 6:55 PM
We did it! Thanks to your generosity, we smashed through our minimum goal in just two days, meaning *VGHF is officially funded for 2026*! Thank you all so much.

We could always use more, so the campaign is still open through the end of the year! Online events start next week! gamehistory.org/donate

We are OVER $25K ON DAY TWO, with just over $4k left to hit our minimum goal for 2026! You're all incredible, thanks for the support and the shares!

Finishing the meter isn't a guarantee though, so if you were thinking of giving but waiting, help us keep this momentum going! gamehistory.org/donate

🎉We made it halfway in less than 8 hours! Thank you so so much for joining us in keeping video game history alive. We've still got a ways to go but getting this far on day one is a huge relief. Still plenty of time to help! gamehistory.org/donate

Did you know that your donations today are DOUBLED?

That means if we raise another $424, it'll magically become $848, which will put us HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL on day one!

🥳 We've smaaaaashed through 33% of our annual fundraising goal in less than four hours! If we reach our goal on day one we'll literally kick Phil out of the office and make him go home early to relax.

It's Giving Tuesday at the VGHF! We've had an incredible 2025, but we need your help to make sure we can continue doing our charitable work in 2026 and beyond. We just launched our annual Winter Fundraiser campaign, please give if you're able (and share this post!). http://gamehistory.org/donate

The Worlds Of Ultima spinoffs took the classic fantasy RPG in some different directions - and The Savage Empire (1990, based on the Ultima VI engine) went full Conan Doyle 'Lost World'.

Also from the newly archived VGHF GamePro press CDs, this EA/Square collab disc - https://archive.gamehistory.org/folder/236fb114-867f-4e78-ab60-e05c230ad10d - includes hi-res Parasite Eve promo images.

This Secret Of Monkey Island ad from 1991 includes details of the Monkey Island Treasure Hunt. What's that? Certain 3M diskette boxes (and a write-in offer) included a demo you could complete to win a cruise (or a sound card!)

Thanks to our GamePro art CD archiving (https://archive.gamehistory.org/folder/a5823d80-320b-41c9-9e3c-4dc28f79f2a2), VGHF is preserving hi-res versions of, uh, Bruce Willis being a shoot-y CG guy in Neversoft & Activision's Apocalypse.

Remember when game companies used magazines to help hire? Back in 2008, this ad in Game Developer magazine suggested you apply to work at a (pre-Fortnite, post-Unreal) Epic Games: https://archive.gamehistory.org/item/bc1cf67b-d52f-4d3b-bd76-5d454ea2e3af

Digital Eclipse just released new DLC for Atari 50, covering Namco ports for Atari platforms. And... hey, what's this?

That's Computer Entertainer, the game magazine we released into the Creative Commons this summer! It's already being used in commercial game history projects
