We’ve met with Greta Thunberg and others in the flotilla. They describe hours-long scenes of torture and sexual harassment in Israeli captivity. Experts conclude that they have been subjected to serious crimes – Sweden’s foreign minister believes they have themselves to blame.

Oh, you think this grimy, amoral social climber doesn't deserve a prestige journalism job that should go to someone who isn't dead inside instead? Guess what, you did a slut shaming. You did a sexism. You need to log off and Do The Work.

Everyone in my feed is shitting on Nuzzi. Meanwhile, the other person in the saga is now destroying the medical community and endangering public health.

But let’s slut shame Nuzzi.

Just heard scampering noises between floors and I'm thrilled and terrified. What will it be? Will it fall through the ceiling into my lap? Will we be best friends or will I get rabies?

You gently run your hand through the rack. You can feel it—pure cotton, rich wool, Irish linen. The plump buttonholes are handsewn; the buttons attached with a firm shank. You flip the price tag over. It's affordable

You buy the jacket and go home, which is only 15 mins away. Your apt is $600/month

Congratulations to this year's #WPOTY winners. 👏📸

With ghostly urban landscapes & rodents stealing the spotlight – this year's images are truly striking, detailed and thought-provoking.

A haunting scene of a brown hyena among the skeletal remains of a long-abandoned diamond mining town. The light glows orange around the building next to the hyena. A longhorn beetle in a logged forest, the beetle sits in the bark of a tree in the bottom left corner of the image. To the right and blurred in the distance is a disused yellow digger amongst the trees. A comical and perfectly timed shot showing a ladyfish snatching its prey from right under this little egret’s beak, above the surface of the water. Black and white image of a Eurasian pygmy owl in a tree, holding prey between its legs.

Unpopular opinion: plastic straws are good and necessary for healthcare. People with mobility and cognitive issues need them.

I was in this same area with my parents visiting from Vancouver Island and they were shocked to see these giant homes on out-of-the-way rural numbered roads.

And whole developments far from schools and stores and community! So bizarre.

This past weekend I was driving around in the rural area between Cambridge and Guelph, and noted that there are still an awful lot of "monster homes" being built on large rural lots for the wealthy (I presume).

Maybe I'm seeing the wealth divide because I'm looking for it, but I do see it.

I often talk about my experience buying a new home in 2004.

New freehold housing is all but extinct in Ontario. Everything is either a condo or a rental... and condos appear to be the next to go.

Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

I kind of have to laugh at the idea that giving my bike a sponge bath every 2 weeks could save me hundreds.

I bought my bike 18 years ago for $500. I spend about $80 a year on a tune-up by a pro, and $40 on maintenance (new brakes, tubes etc).

I'm not spending hundreds.

By the sounds of this, it seems like WestJet is removing the recline option from its basic economy seats. You will have to pay more to sit in the premium economy section to get a seat that reclines.

All of this seems like an excuse to squish in more rows, making exits in emergencies harder.

Yay.

I agree it's immoral.
It's also a false economy.
Some will die, but still more will become disabled, chronically ill, suffer long-term health impacts (including cognitive ones).
All while the govt sets rigid targets for school attendance and squeezes disability payments.

I’ll find something and I can afford the £80, but many cannot afford to go wherever it is let alone afford the £80.

Again: they changed criteria just a few weeks ago. All to avoid spending money on essential care. People are going to die as a direct result of this.

It’s immoral. 4/4

On the way home I gave them a warning that they had two (2) songs left before I switched to the Jays game...

The entire incident is infuriating and terrifying. She’s a Latina woman who was working a service job. On her way home late at night, with her headphones in, she was detained for an hour by masked federal agents who wouldn’t give her their names.
Maria Greeley, 44, had just finished working a double shift at the Beach Bar on Ohio Street
earlier this month when she said she was surrounded by three federal agents who grabbed her, forced her hands behind her back and zip tied her.
Headphones in, Greeley had been focused on getting home to her two dogs for a walk.
Instead, she said she was detained by masked agents who did not answer when she asked for names. They questioned her for an hour, she said.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
