It’s been a tough year for nature, but there are reasons for hope. 💚

From Nepal’s landmark snow leopard survey to the first satellite-tagged hawksbill turtles in Fiji, this year gave us real wildlife wins to celebrate. 👏

Together, we can bring our world back to life. 🌍
Our oceans are getting better protection! 🐳

The High Seas Treaty enters into force TODAY. 👏

This deal will help protect the vast expanse of ocean beyond national borders, helping create Marine Protected Areas and safeguarding our wildlife.

Check out this otter-ly brilliant snap!

Winter is a great time to spot otter tracks, especially by rivers, canals, and wetlands. 🦦

Video of the day: caribou munchin’ on bearflower.

Researchers used GPS video collars to track hungry habits of the Fortymile herd in North America. Results show they ate less due to a warming climate & increased pesky insects!

Now, the bite-sized data is helping guide their future conservation. 🧡

Today, wildfires are wiping out twice as much forest as they did 20 years ago.

It may be hard to visualise, so here's an interactive map to see just how big these burned areas are. 👇

POV you're a reindeer refuelling after the big day out.

Can you tell your reindeer from your caribou❔

Both are the same species, but they're miles apart!

🦌In North America, wild herds are known as caribou, while ‘reindeer’ only refers to domesticated animals.

🦌 While in Northern Europe & Siberia, they’re all known as reindeer - wild or domesticated!

Scotland is steeped in myths and legends, from our wonderful wildlife to powerful plants. ✨️

In folklore, evergreens symbolised protection and luck during harsh winters. Fairies were said to shelter in holly leaves and people brought holly inside at Hogmanay for good luck. 🌿

The longest night of the year means lighter days are just beyond the horizon.

A few extra minutes of daylight each day = more time to spend in nature. 💚
