I don't believe that "few seem to care" about the near-annihilation of youth clubs. It's one of the issues I hear people caring about passionately every day. I can believe that few with the political power to effect large-scale change care enough to use it. But many people care very deeply indeed.

I found a 19th century Cat Villain!

A huge chonk of a fluffy cat sitting on a table near an open fire. The cat is cream and grey and appears to be shaped like a barrel in a fur coat. They are scowling fiercely with their moustache and bewhiskered ears apparently flowing back into the cold wind. There's a definite vibe that this villainous cat twirls their moustache as they evict orphans into the aforementioned blizzard and think Scrooge was an easy-going lightweight. They are magnificent.

One of the many touching things that happened this past week was that my friends at @merrymacsanctuary.bsky.social named a new rabbit after Fergus. Like my Fergus, he is BIG and soft and sweet and has huge adorable paws.

I think he...is known as a religion expert. Yes his thing is paganism but you'd assume that included knowledge of Xity. I don't know enough myself to discern whether he's right or there's "debate" and he's coming down on the other side iyswim?

Readers of the Hobbit may be familiar with attercop as an old regional English term for spider. This has a slightly interesting trajectory. First, atter is an old word for venom, but that association had been lost so the term applied very generally to spiders...
