unless you're really on top of tracking your ballot, I suggest you always put your phone number or email address on your ballet envelope!!! I've had to confirm my signature multiple times in the past!!! it's a very simple process to confirm and significantly better than your vote being discarded!!!
There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.
