POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

A genuinely good piece of reportage in Politico today sheds some light on young Republicans’ love of racial epithets and other slurs. I definitely recommend reading it, but as I’ve explained before, I doubt this will lead to any sort of a reckoning for Republicans.

Basically, what we have here is a situation where you had China hawks and race war hawks and it turns out the latter outnumbered the former about 30:1 and them not realizing this fact was kinda loadbearing for the entirety of traditional establishment national security thought.

it's deeply sad that certain parts of the Pro-Pali Left would rather lie and smear the second-most openly pro-Palastinian prominent elected political figure after Rashida Tlaib than concede an inch rhetorically.

We are living through the most consequential shift in the constitutional government of the United States in over a hundred and fifty years and nobody seems to have even noticed yet.

I get the impulse, but I want everyone to please seriously consider the chances of Biden actually being able to cut US support for Israeli anti-ballistic missile defense right at the peak of the Israel-Iran war of the cities.

He would have faced a revolt both within DoD and the Democratic party.

There are literally hundreds of clearly labeled levers to pull, they exist on a spectrum and the State Department's job is to keep lists of them in filing cabinets. Not only did Biden fail to impose consequences, he was actively giving them scarce assets like THAAD

the thing that annoys me about the 'elections won't save us' shit is that it's just a permission structure to wait for a powerful national social movement, and in their want a violent one, that *will never fucking exist*.

winning elections is pretty much the only way to solidify the gains of social movements though. and winning them often enough that they can't be immediately repealed.

What really also annoys me is there’s also a variant of this that seem to think that there’s some magic secret trick the national movement will play that will solve politics, possibly forever, that somehow isn’t also mass violence.
