An increasing majority of local businesses pass the payment processor fees on to the customer. Sometimes it's worth writing a check to duck the fees, and sometimes it's worth writing a check out of sheer bureaucratic pettiness.
I'm personally boggled that anyone still uses paper cheques (that'd be "checks" for the Americans).

I mean... you carry around a little booklet of pocket-sized slips with your name, address and banking information on them, and just... give them out, to random underpaid strangers in retail stores?

Just submitted the same damn reply three times. I hope I eventually got the right version to the right person, because I am logging the hell off until my caffeine levels stabilize.

Holy shit? This sounds amazing.
the EU machines don’t have a heat pump. the tech didn’t take off until about 18-24 months ago. the heat pump dehumidifies the air in the dryer rather than relying on straight heat to evaporate moisture. the accumulated water is disposed of in the drain rather than through a vent or into the room

I'm on an errand in Nashville, and just discovered they have an outlet of the long-gone campy-pretentious cafe where my friends and I spent so many late nights in the nineties.

Feeling very mushy and nostalgic.

There's no way that, in the age of preexisting conditions, FEHB plans didn't have kid-glove account managers assigned to, yunno, about 2+100+435+15+9+100+emeritus named accounts.

And they're going to be tempted to duck that expense now. These elderly candyasses may have some finding out to do.
Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous
