How can any nation allow this? 2 of the kids at Browns have been through school shootings before.
This is insane.
i don't think this is even a real statistical anomaly anymore. it seems like there's someone in the crowd at every mass shooting who has been through it before. this doesn't have to be our shared cultural experience.
Two survivors of Brown University attack escaped other school shootings
Mia Tretta was shot in the abdomen in 2019 at a school near LA and Zoe Weissman witnessed a Florida shooting in 2018

Starmer is like a lap dog to the US far right. All of that talk of him being good on the world stage when in reality he’s just a human doormat. Trump walks all over him and then some.
Remember the US trade deal that Starmer announced with huge fanfare?

Would it surprise you to learn that it's stuck?

As I (and many others) pointed out at the time, it was merely the outline of negotiations, not a done deal.

And now Trump wants more, of course, including weaker UK food standards.

This study predicts UK energy spending to halve by 2050, as part of our ‘rush’ to net zero….:) Five years ago I flagged this incredible fact in my book Manifesto - we spend £50 billion a year to bring oil and gas into our country - just to burn it. Good to see it in this study.

Because P Quay is hardcore Labour. Yes, they'll work with Tories (as in local authorities) to thwart independence. But they see themselves as very different: more clever, morally superior, more authentic. We may not, but they do; always will. It's a creed, tied up with sectarianism, fitba, schools.

My heart breaks for the Jewish community.

If you think anti-Semitism is something that happens somewhere else, there is a group I know in Belfast who have to organise their meetings in secret due to security fears and I'm sure they're not the only one.

If one single post summed up the complete failure of Labour in dismantling the damage done by the Tories.

And now they echo far right talking points (on migration, EU, the other IK Nations).

What the hell is Labour for?
What does it mean, if the national equality body aggressively pursues discrimination; if the energy regulator rubber-stamps huge price hikes; if the water authority does nothing about shit in the rivers and the press regulator occasionally ticks off a newspaper? What is the purpose of “regulation”.
I was concerned that Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson might try and be smarter about transphobia than her predecessors and leave trans people in a shit place than was harder to rectify because it wasn’t so obvious.

Today dispelled those worries.

Labour have appointed a second raving bigot to run the EHRC.

Wow. Amid horrific news of a shooting at Bondi Beach, this looks like a truly astonishing act of courage.
Video, I believe recorded off of local TV, of a bystander disarming one of the two killers.

Shorter thread: Laura Kuenssberg is spreading misinformation and Mary-Ann Stephenson understands neither the law nor her role and can't bring herself to say trans people exist.
So, Laura Kuenssberg's introduction to her interview with Mary-Ann Stephenson is just hideous.

Let me count the ways. 🧵

Mary-Ann Stephenson assumes - either from ignorance or malice - that trans people have no legal rights as trans. That is deeply troubling from someone holding her role - although hardly surprising given her history.

Awful - and hopelessly out of her depth (just as two Select Committees concluded).

Fourth, neither Kuenssberg (or Mary-Ann Stephenson) even contemplate that trans people might have rights too, to live in their right gender. All they can say is that they should merely not be left without any spaces at all - ie they should become a third sex.

Second, she then completely misstates what the Supreme Court decided. She says it decided the question of who should be able to access single sex spaces. That's just flat out mis or disnformation. Here's what Lord Hodge said.

First, she frames the issue as a conflict between transgender rights and women's rights. Where is the evidence for that broad framing of conflict? Where is the evidence that women as a group see there as being a clash? None is given and women remain supportive of trans rights.

there you have it.
I believe the news here are waiting for the NSW Premier's press conference to confirm what we all already have a sickening knowledge of.

The BBC is institutionally and systemically transphobic, Islamophobic, racist and classist.

It's also chock-full of privately educated and bigoted individuals who hold far too much power within the organisation.

It does infinitely more bad than it does good.

So Labour have been running constant ads on LinkedIn, YouTube and FarceBook claiming they are the only supporters of shipbuilding.

So they award a contract for over 20 vessels to a shipyard presently accused of sanctions busting for Russo.

Oh, and it’s in the Netherlands.
