EXCLUSIVE: A Glasgow refugee has urged Nigel Farage to stop playing 'dirty games' by picking on children who speak different languages

Hopefully the growth of fluency in other languages will increase as Gaelic medium education grows. We already have Àrd-sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu 😊

'S e amadan a th' aige.
2 in 3 of Nigel Farage’s current and former partners do not speak English as their first language.

Yesterday in the C'gorms 😀 Though I spend the whole year eagerly anticipating days like this, even when they actually happen I'm still taken aback at how beautiful & uplifting they are 😆 In the depths of winter, when brightness is in short supply, snowfields under a blue sky are a shot in the arm 😎

Every now & again, it's useful to say why I do all these eel history tweets.

Mostly, it's because eels need our help. They're critically endangered, seeing a c.90% drop in population in the last decades.

But it's hard to get people to care! 'Cause...eels are gross & slimy. 1/2

I timed my arrival on the plateau for around 12, and sure enough, the fog started to lift around the same time 👍 Within 20 mins or so it had COMPLETELY gone! The wind vanished too. An astonishingly quick transformation.

It’s what the English Empire always did: ransack its colonies.
Mairi Gougeon MSP has submitted a motion condemning the UK Government’s decision to award a paltry 7.78% of the "Fishing and Coastal Growth Fund" to Scotland.

Scotland accounts for more than 60% of the UK’s fishing capacity.
Scottish Parliament overwhelmingly supports Scottish fishing

Very sad news.
Very sorry to hear that Dave Hewitt died earlier this week, the man behind The Angry Corrie hillwalkers fanzine and a great account of walking the Scottish watershed, a nice bit of writing which you can read (and other of his work) here web.archive.org/web/20060923...

Every time living standards fall, Nigel Farage blames migration.

And every time, Keir Starmer nods along.

People are struggling with the cost of living and blaming migration won’t fix that.

Scotland deserves better - a fairer, wealthier, welcoming future with independence.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla
T-Mobile
Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

England may have sold it's water to foreign billionaires. Scottish water is still state owned (and doing much better).

Well, indeed.
“The Social Democrats have shifted rightward politically..This was a cynical strategic manoeuvre to avoid losing voters to the far right, but it seems, based on polling, that all they have done is prime their own voters to join the far right rather than stay with the Social Democrats.”

The only thing I'd add is that if Scotland had implemented @thecommonweal.bsky.social's Property Tax, this is estate could owe a little under £159,000 per year for its land.
