America remains a slave nation as the carceral system tortures black men across the nation and exploits them for profit and cheap labor.

They are political prisoners, suffering unduly under the largest prison state in human history. They must be freed.

Whatever illusion there was that the judiciary was part of a democratic system in amerika died when Kavanaugh declared Latinos as subhuman
Dissenting Judge Graber, on 9th Cir, calls on public to "retain faith in judicial system" while she begs full court to overturn the panel ruling permitting federalization of National Guard in Portland. Full court asks for briefs on whether to rehear case en banc by Wed midnight

Obama is the lynchpin of neoliberal failure:

- no bankers went to jail for the financial crisis
- no punishment for Bush era crimes including torture
- no reigning in open market manipulation and illegal activity of tech disruptors like Uber
- refused to reform the filibuster
- drone wars expanded
obama ramped up the use of drone strikes (10x more than bush!) and deported a record number of immigrants. he helped maintain and expand the systems trump is now using to do his crimes
I miss the times when the worst thing a President did was wear a tan suit

my woke take is that entirely too many people feel entitled to the benefits of a social contract while not feeling bound by the responsibilities of said contract

"No kings" doesn't sit right as a slogan as it implies US exceptionalism

The US might not have had kings but it built a political system which gave power to oligarchs and technocrats to protect similar forms of oppression

This is not a democratic alternative to "kings", more an evolution

"[F]or Palestinians, [mass captivity] has been normalized over decades. ... [A]t least 1 million Palestinians have [reportedly] experienced Israeli detention since 1967."
"[O]ver 9,100 Palestinians continue to be held in Israeli prisons."

The 9,100 Palestinians left behind in Israeli prisons after the ‘peace’ deal
As world leaders celebrate the release of Israeli captives, over 9,000 Palestinian prisoners still face torture, hunger, and isolation behind bars. Half of them are held by Israel without charge or…

No physical evidence connected Anthony Boyd to a 1993 murder. He was sent to death row on the word of a co-defendant who testified under the threat of capital punishment.

All these “we could be at brunch!!” signs?

Is your brain on? You don’t see that’s also apart of the problem? No. And that’s why I can’t fuck with them people who are outside.

I don’t have time for that type of delusion in 2025

Because they're facist 😭 i think people keep thinking I'm exaggerating when I say that but I'm not. And it's not new. A newspaper that would knowingly employ a nazi sympathizer as Berlin bureau chief because he got them access to Hitler is not a paper that will help uphold democracy.
I looked at 38 papers. The NYT was one of only a few not to have it as the top story and photo

The handful of exceptions were pretty much all places with a big D1 football game

I genuinely don't understand why the NYT is so reticent to give coverage to one of the largest protests in history

people have to harden their hearts and understand who the true enemy is: anyone who is part of the fascist state operations, which includes all cops and ICE agents. yes, even the ones crying crocodile tears today after years of moving us to this point
Sorry to report I hate this kind of shit and I think this kind of naivety is dangerous and should be loudly pushed back against

Saw these images posted on social media, from the recent “No Kings” protest in the US, where blue maga liberals were holding signs like these.

It perfectly sums up the liberal worldview: they don’t hate fascism. They just hate when the wrong people are in charge of it.

See? This is what I’m talking about. This person saw a post about college students working in solidarity to fight incursions on free speech and thinks the march today is where they should’ve been instead.

Maybe look at the encampments, the ice protests. That’s where they are. 1/
I dunno, im seein a lot more grandmas in the streets than college kids
If we survive it’ll be this up and coming generation that saves us.

In Europe people die "unexpectedly" at 50, after having Covid 7-8 times. And they don't even have an RFK.
