Look all I'm saying is that in our stories we know what to do with dragons.

Infields are standardized, but there's a lot of variation in outfields. It started because a lot of old ballparks were just crammed in wherever they fit in cities.

This is the result of a lot of people pretending racism is one of the greatest taboos in our culture while failing to address racism substantively. People are appalled by the idea of being called racist while being totally committed to upholding racism throughout society.

Every time a Democrat gets caught on tape saying like “Some Trump voters are racist” we have a national scandal and JD Vance demands an entirely new kind of apology and meanwhile every Republican group chat is like “Good morning fellow SS members. Who’s ready to respect Hitler today?”

another glaring issue here is that "convincing people to join your coalition" may be an incredibly quaint thing to say now. i certainly prefer to live in a democracy and have a say in how my government operates, but these people disagree. they do not believe you have a legitimate coalition to join

Trump has a very simple worldview: the Presidency is not a public office, it is his property. He can use it to satisfy his personal or partisan whims, or to enrich himself.

So here, he threatens to reorganize an international competition, cohosted by Mexico and Canada, to settle a vendetta.

Joke's on you, nobody talks to JD Vance.

So I posted this *before* I saw the "Manager retires because of threats from gamblers" story.

"Shildt ... said that during the past season he experienced, among other things, poor sleep, chest pains, hair loss, and, in an age of pervasive sports gambling, even death threats from strangers."

So Kilmer Abrego-Garcia will not challenge a deportation to Costa Rica, who has agreed to for him residency, but DHS won’t agree to send him there because it’s not cruel enough.

www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/u...
For weeks, Mr. Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who is married to a U.S. citizen, has made clear that he would not challenge his deportation if he were sent to Costa Rica, which has promised him legal residency and guaranteed that he would not be sent back to El Salvador.

But the Trump administration has refused to deport him to Costa Rica, and in an earlier hearing this week, Judge Xinis pressed the administration to consider the option or clarify why it was unacceptable.

The fact that the headline doesn't give the reader an opportunity to answer the initial question is such a perfect metaphor for AI marketing.

Something I've been chewing on: In the long term, MLB's current embrace of sports betting partnerships is going to be a much, much bigger black eye than the steroid era.

It's so important to keep the "non-consensual" part of generative AI front and center.
disabilitystor1.bsky.social
I don't know how many times to point out that is absolutely ghoulish and non-consensual and disgusting behavior.
To exploit the image of a dead woman who was also exploited in real life so you can live out your momentary fantasies of "what is possible" with AI is bad science journalism, also.
Sick.

Marilyn Monroe in Game of Thrones? AI Could Make It Happen Soon

Despite early, and familiar, copyright growing pains, Sora may be the prelude to AI-generated on-demand TV and movies

Screenshot includes an AI generated image of what looks like a human cross between Daenaerys Targaryen and Marilyn Monroe on the back of a dragon.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

The large number of reassignments reflect a vast reshaping of the agency and could put other priorities at risk.
