One of my contrarian beliefs is that tiktok made this all worse. People are willing (and not wrong) to ignore anonymous accounts, but there's really solid marketing research showing that if you see someone's face as they're talking to you in an add it dramatically makes them seem more credible.
so many of our current problems stem from americans not being able to comprehend that a guy they know from tv might actually be stupid
