This is what the prediction markets people want! You know how you absolutely *hate* that every sports broadcast is loaded up with ads for draftkings and shit? They want you to have that feeling but for everything everywhere.
Fuckin people watching Netflix making prop bets on what minute of the episode we’re first gonna see Vecna. People betting on whether it’s gonna be a Toyotathon commercial or an Activia commercial. Just a little QR code in the bottom corner of every show asking you to bet on everything.

Usually, re-dedication ceremonies are held in broad daylight, with pomp and circumstance and a heads up to the press to cover said event with smiling politicos and speechless honorees….not marked with a “hey! look what we did when no one was looking!” tweet after business hours.

Sort of convinced her editors were like "oh you want a book? sure. write whatever you want. let's just put that final nail in the coffin of your career."
I just want to stress that this has nothing to do with the rest of the chapter. She has an epigraph, a bizarre intro paragraph, a description of Britney Spears dancing in 2002 and then a section about Donald Trump promoting birtherism.

What I mean with this one is specifically unsafe / too-fast riding, which certainly feels like it’s becoming a bigger problem in shared walking + bike spaces or even sidewalks. If it keeps growing, it makes those spaces less pleasant for most and could trigger a less nuanced regulatory response. 5/4
I believe it's important to not just have the right policy on paper, but for the vibes to be good for it to be stable.

If we get more people walking and biking, that's good. If people walking and biking around the city have regular interactions with throttle e-bikes whizzing past, that's bad. 3/4

One of the reasons I think it’s also essential to not call the boat strikes “war crimes” but “crimes against humanity,” is that it emphasizes that Trump and Hegseth are acting extra-constitutionally and are not entitled to any shield from the courts. This systematic murder of civilians is illegal.

There are uses for "AI" that don't require massive resources or pump out slop. This is one of them, and I hope to one day benefit from it. If they could solve the "cocktail party" problem of being able to participate in a conversation in a crowded room, it would be life-changing for me.
Many haven’t—or if they did hear, they might not have made out the words through noisy cross-conversations. Once they do know—particularly if they’re boomers—they want it desperately. Fortell is a hearing aid, one that claims to use AI to provide a dramatically superior aural experience.
