Climate, bird flu, AI, and Trump are our next existential crises. I like to think my opinions are well-considered but I have blind spots and am open to new perspectives... Always. Frequent dropper of F-bombs; less frequent dropper of C-bombs.

as someone who was a teenage girl on the internet, i think making AI-generated revenge porn of a minor should get you the electric chair actually

it's 30 years later and this still happens.
Jenna Ortega revealed in an interview with The New York Times that she quit Twitter after seeing explicit images of herself generated by Al when she was a teenager. She also became inundated with messages from fans that ranged from "disgusting" to "absurd."
"I hate AI," Ortega said. "I mean, here's the thing: AI could be used for incredible things. I think I saw something the other day where they were saying that artificial intelligence was able to detect breast cancer four years before it progressed. That's beautiful. Let's keep it to that. Did I like being 14 and making a Twitter account because I was supposed to and seeing dirty edited content of me as a child? No. It's terrifying. It's corrupt. It's wrong."

Oh fuck off. Gas powered vehicles are WAY worse and you know what? Gas powered vehicles aren't required to keep people alive. This is ableist bullshit.

Thank you - as always - for telling truths.

Given everyone's ridiculous swarming to AI to help them work - and organizations forcing members to do so - it seems entirely realistic this happened. 2/2

Not completely. We're trusting the original poster to be truthful. That said, this isn't the first time AI garbage has been passed off as "real product." Scientific papers, legal briefs, and student essays have all been found to include AI garbage. 1/2

It looks like it was generated with older versions of AI than currently exist. Newer AIs produce better garbage (which, IMHO, makes them more dangerous). If that is what the teacher did they deserve to be fired for being stupid & lazy.

The self-checkout machine accused me of an "unexpected item." The item was my will to live, which I had mistakenly placed in the bagging area.

This is vile & disgusting. AI use in schools should be banned, not encouraged - especially if it makes teachers this stupid & lazy. AI is trash.

I will be so happy when people wake up to just how shitty and unreliable AI is.

this may be the best description of theftbot-generated slop I've ever read

via this great rant: www.nplusonemag.com/issue-51/the...
Quote from n+1:

But a still graver scandal of AI — like its hydra-head sibling, cryptocurrency — is the technology’s colossal wastefulness. The untold billions firehosed by investors into its development; the water-guzzling data centers draining the parched exurbs of Phoenix and Dallas; the yeti-size carbon footprint of the sector as a whole — and for what? A cankerous glut of racist memes and cardboard essays. Not only is the ratio of AI’s resource rapacity to its productive utility indefensibly and irremediably skewed, AI-made material is itself a waste product: flimsy, shoddy, disposable, a single-use plastic of the mind.

I hope he packed a lunch.

don't worry, Sam Altman is confident that his efforts to eliminate vast numbers of jobs will all just sort of work out for the unemployed, eventually, possibly after they starve to death, which is technically a form of having it work out

Sam Altman Says If Jobs Gets Wiped Out, Maybe They Weren't Even "Real Work" to Start With
Worried that AI will destroy work? Well, Sam Altman asks if you've considered what a farmer from half a century ago thinks of your job, first.
