I’m wearing a mask and my laces have day-glo yellow laces Very stormy waves crashing to the beach at Hastings with the pier in the background Sun and rainbow sundog riding over West Hill Hastings. Silhouetted skyline includes That Tree and Castle Cat. Pillar on Eastbourne station - the paint has peeled off in one place revealing rust beneath, this patch of peeled paint is in the shape of a long cat. Rustcat.

Then again underground island platforms are by necessity narrower. The ones on the Glasgow subway are so tiny I always loiter by the entrance until the train pulls in.

Even old photos of the island platform at Angel Tube Station in the 1980s make my feet tingle with a weird kind of vertigo.

Oddly, island platforms out in the open don’t induce the same reaction in me. Somehow it’s because it’s in a tunnel. No escape.

If I was a politician I’d put this in my manifesto. As well as the rule that rail replacement buses should be required to be electric vehicles.

I understand that rail replacement buses are necessary. However – and I’ve said this before – given the drop in journey quality this means fares should be discounted for any journey involving an RRB.
