So here's a tip: turn off all notifications for social media. I'm not kidding. Stop the cycle where it starts. Only go onto Bluesky and Discord or whatever when you want to. Don't let the app tell you when to look at it. You're the boss of it, not the other way round

as I've remarked before, cyberpunk isn't 'I glitch into the webframe and draw my katana', it's 'the life of a man working for a criminal syndicate in Myanmar who spends his days pretending to be different women online to steal from the elderly'
People are dying over who gets to steal from a dude in Iowa who thinks the model who "accidentally" texted him has fallen in love with him.
the Thai-Cambodian conflict is at least partially about control of the scam/gambling/prostitution compounds along the border.

"Rather than spend several weeks just shooting an ad the normal way, we instead spent several weeks trying to think of the perfect combination of magic words to make the computer simulate the ad. Did this save any time? No. Did it produce something as good as a human? Also no."
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Having sampled some of Sabrina Carpenter's work since she got ICE to take down a post with her music (I have somehow avoided hearing anything by her until now), I think I now know why the chuds who run the Trump Online Universe can't stop themselves from (stupidly) putting themselves against her

It makes a sick sort of sense; once you start denying that someone's brain might be wired for a different gender than their bodies, it's only a small step to denying any difference in brain chemistry is real.

How soon till they deny schizophrenia and bipolar are real I wonder
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

Virginia is just the right kind of snobby to get really annoyed about this. No man, you're not allowed to get weird about keeping Confederate statues, you were born in California and your family came to America after the Civil War
Non-Texans would probably be shocked at how many of our rootin'est, tootin'est, good ol' Republican boys in state politics actually came here from like...Maryland
NEW: People moving brazenly to Texas to run for political office is nothing new. But now a confluence of events, from redistricting to dysfunctional infighting on the right, has everyone from the ShamWow Guy to Mark Teixeria moving to Texas to run for congress: www.chron.com/culture/arti...

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

Am I really supposed to believe that the people who rage-cried for a whole year about a trans woman drinking a Bud Light and get mad when restaurants try to change their logo are going to be totally cool with actual war disruption?
that's cool, man, but have you tried the taste of a refreshing matcha latte

Mockler: It's honestly humiliating that other countries are treating our president like a child, like a baby. It's like if I created a peace prize and I gave it to myself. I'm like, I'm just going to keep this medal on all night. Our president is an actual child

I love the insistent terminology that these hatchback are "crossovers."

But if that's what it takes to get people to buy non-SUV/trucks then so be it
The new Bolt, much like its predecessor, is a down-to-earth car that’s meant for the masses, so you’re not going to find a lot of customization in the online configurator. But it's a great deal.

Pretty sure the reason we don’t have a Democratic Party “interested in an anti-war movement” is that being “anti-war” is not actually a meaningful or useful principle, as seen by virtually all the people who self-define as such being adamantly in favour of wars conducted by states like Russia

I'm sorry does he think efficiency laws are what ended the station wagon body style? Station wagons held on through the 90s. They were still making the Dodge Magnum in 2008
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

Seriously though why do so many allegedly smart people think that when it comes to making predictions, we should trust gamblers?

Also love the way this bookie is trying to pretend that what he does is just like a stock broker or a bonds trader
The co-founder of Kalshi says: " The long-term vision is to financialize everything and create a tradable asset out of any difference in opinion."
