I've been thinking alot about the people I've been missing over on the other site so I wanted to peek in here for a bit.

#NoKings signs in Belgrade, Serbia today, as protesters converged outside of (Dez)Informer media offices after the government-friendly publication called the 16 people that were killed from the train station canopy collapse in Novi Sad on Nov. 1, 2024, "alleged victims."

Note who does the escalating here

It's not the folks exercising their First Amendment rights

It's the violent thug with the car, badge, and gun
A police officer just drive his cruiser through the crowd and knocked over a protester—injuring him. Chaos here while they try to get him in a waiting car to get him to the hospital

Read this thread to the end.

Note who escalates, at every stage [hint: not the civilians].

Note how the escalation is always violently disproportionate to conditions.

And remember why we asked our "leaders" to #DefundThePolice.
LOS ANGELES, CA—The main #nokings march is done over at city hall, but a sizeable crowd of a couple hundred has congregated at the intersection of Alameda and Commercial, where police have taped off the street away from the MDC

Those Dem pols who were actually in the streets today were doing their jobs.

Those who weren't? Need to be ousted and replaced with those willing to do the work.
There is still a judicial order that LAPD can't attack journalists.

Beyond that where the FUCK is the Democratic Mayor of LA? Why is she supporting the LAPD doing this? Why aren't Democrats screaming about this?
LAPD now shooting 40mm foam rounds at people, some narrowly missing photographers who were stuck in between the line and protesters. Just absolutely evil shit.

Also please don’t feel guilty.

You can’t resist if you don’t survive.

Protests aren’t always accessible or safe.

We all have different disabilities, boundaries and limits.

Do what you can when you can!

That’s more than enough.

Survival is resistance.
Disabled folks feeling guilty for not protesting today: *it is not your fault* that organizers don’t make an effort to make protests accessible and don’t encourage masking

And despite what folks on Bluesky would have you believe, there are MANY ways to resist and protests don’t have to be your way

It’s really hard to watch the country rise up and not feel welcome to join in because of ableism. But do not feel guilty and do not be hard on yourself.

Our very existence is resistance.

When you say only the “genuinely disabled” should receive support, you’re aiding fascism.

When you say people are scamming the system, you’re aiding fascism.

Many disabilities are invisible and it’s hard to get support.

People aren’t scamming. That’s “useless eater” rhetoric designed to divide.

Okay, tonight's local urgent needs.

I'm absolutely beat; the week has caught up with me.

So just one tonight, because it's VERY close to goal, and they've said that as soon as it hits that, they'll close it down.

Also? It's a child's medical fund.

And I count the reporters who breathless and uncritically reported on this bullshit as co-conspirators, BTW. Millions of the ignorant couldn't have been fleeced like they were without the cooperation of the press.

"Look! Look! Look how many MILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!" OK but why? By who?

It's wild how much it feels like people are desperate to memory hole this entire phenomenon, to me. How viciously everyone who pointed out the emperor had no clothes were criticized. How content they all seem to be to let the biggest wealth transfer of the decade just fade out w/o REAL examination.
-gross fork in a sink food disposal like laughter- I REMEMBER PUTTING THIS THING OUT 3 YEARS AGO WHEN I STARTED THIS JOB AND IT'S STILL HERE, WITH DUST AGED PAGE EDGES LOL

The average amount of SNAP received is about $173. Which means you could fund nearly a million families for a month if we just didn't buy her two private jets to fly around and do racist pressers. Which by the way, seems excessive.
Do I understand this correctly? We're shelling out $172 million for two private jets for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and other federal officials while no funds are available for SNAP (food stamp) recipients in November. Does that about cover it?
$172 million on private jets for Kristi Noem? Incredible.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard is supposed to save lives and protect our coasts, but apparently it’s easier and far more important to fund her personal travel budget. Wasteful doesn’t even begin to cover it.

The funds are "available." They've been stolen, quite literally, by Noem, Musk, and Trump.

I mean, it wasn’t a vague fear that it would be career limiting. We were explicitly told it would be.
“People [in tech jobs] worry that not being seen as uncritical AI cheerleaders will be a career-limiting move…for those who aren't insiders in the tech industry, it's vital that you understand that you've been presented with an extremely distorted view about what tech workers really think about AI”
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

“Our product manager is using Copilot to write our Jira tickets” is the most cursed sentence I’ve heard all week, and I’ve been reading the news🗞️
My job hit us with mandatory Copilot sign up and training so they could brag to investors about our AI adoption rate. In reality no one outside of management is using it, and the way management is using it is actively making our lives worse. Our PM is using Copilot to write our Jira tickets????
In my current position, having any ethical backbone about AI is a career ender. Period.
