In the most on the nose name since Fraud Guarantee, apparently Palmer Lucky has a new crypto banking startup called Erebor.

The techbros' fascination with Tolkien terms and ill-gotten gains continues unabated.

Sotomayor: "race is *always* a part of redistricting efforts."

Thank you. See, the Republicans are trying to gaslight people by suggesting they're for "no race in gerrymandering." That's just not true. Race is ALWAYS a factor when you're drawing a map.

Not to be discounted is how much brain damage occurred due to single/ repeated Covid.

The casual disregard for not just others' lives, but that of the driver themselves shows up in near misses + grotesque crashes.

Alas, we didn't heed Maria Ressa's prescient warnings. Soc media + bots rot 🧠s.

Disabled folks esp saw how accomodations that they advocated for years could be quickly made, removed.

The small inconvenience of mask wearing + vaxxing for the greater public good was turned into a giant bogeyman.

People lied, people died.

Electeds spread fear, disinfo, and hate.

"Pandemic of distrust" = great phrase.

Much of our current disillusionment was highlighted during Covid.

From callous jokes to unwillingness to mask to keep everyone safe, we saw common values fray.

While prev impossible policies (WFH, eviction moratorium, + stimulus $) started + yanked away.

I submit that a huge part of the pandemic of distrust is that reactionaries & progressives the world over are both dissatisfied with democracy, for different reasons, but this creates a pervasive common sense (via incompletely theorized agreement) that democracy's in crisis.

Indiana University fires IDS
adviser amid push to control
student newspaper's content The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

It's really simple

Voters want an opposition party that will fight for them, and democracy, like there's no tomorrow

Dem elites want a members-only social club where polite, dues-paying members who they like to see at cocktail parties get rewarded with plum roles www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

The government has been shut down for 12 days with no end in sight.
