I can’t imagine my life without wearing eyeglasses. I’ve been wearing many pairs of them throughout my life since I was six years old. It especially helps because I’m pretty sure my vision is awful compared to most people lol.
Thrift shopping is one of my favorite things to do. Here’s one of my favorite finds so far!

Haddonfield drug store: "Sure, a white-masked killer murdered a bunch of people in this small town ten years ago so OF COURSE we sell a nearly identical mask on our shelves at Halloween."

When *I* was a kid, having a nazi tattoo was what you called a "dealbreaker." No one tried to nuance their way into "not ALL nazi tattoos" or some bullshit.
But then, there was also a general agreement that nazis were bad, and if you saw one, you called your mom or threw a punch or both.
Why is this a debate? Why is this an analysis? Why are we discussing his motivations or the reasoning behind why he has it or why he kept it? (These are all rhetorical questions.)

Nazi tattoo = you’re done.

It’s literally that simple. There’s no nuance or further conversation needed.
Defending someone having a Nazi tattoo by claiming all Jews are genocidal. Definitely not antisemitic at all. 👍

Israel did not trick Platner into getting an SS tattoo 20 years ago, or trick him into never getting it removed, or trick him into claiming - contrary to other reporting - that he only just learned what it was, as part of a plot to undermine his Senate campaign in 2025.
I like how he said the Bluesky left have a problem with a Nazi tattoo. Of course we do! It’s disgusting to show support for Nazis in any capacity.

All I’m saying is it’s a pretty weird look to be defending a Nazi tattoo and then pivot to trying to deflect criticism and hate onto a Black guy while telling everyone else they’re wrong.

Sounds almost like what a Na-
While I wait for BSky to let me delete my account (very cool system), I’ll just say that while many of us marched in the streets, Jamelle Bouie said absolutely nothing. He then spent another year or so saying very little in print. Deep down inside he knows all this.
What level is lazy when you make a typo and don’t even bother to correct it? Lol

I want to say one more thing. This is not about "censoriousness" or "contrition."

Some ex-Nazis go around doing lectures on de-radicalizing people. That is a contribution to society. No one is slamming them for anything.

If one ran for office, from the get-go a different story. DON'T LIE THOUGH
YOU CANNOT RUN ON “NO TOLERANCE FOR NAZIS” IF ONE OF YOUR GUYS HAS A TOTENKOPF
If people affiliated with the campaign have to fall back on stuff like this in October in the year prior to the election, you're toast, pack it in.

All my white guy friends had a fire phase. They had a "let's quote anchorman non-stop" phase. They had a Red Hot Chili Peppers phase. They had an eating-room-temp-pizza-for-days phase. They did not have a nazi phase.
this also drives me insane, this idea that it is the most normal thing in the world for a young (white) man to have a nazi curious phase. it isn’t!

i had an anti-nazi phase that i never grew out of
Also, I cannot believe I am going to have to say these words as I am seeing a whole bunch of liberals defending Platner by saying “everyone has a Nazi phase”

I never had a Nazi phase and I know a lot of other men, my age who never had a Nazi phase because most people don’t go through a Nazi phase
This is correct. I’m not saying this because I think I’m better than anyone but I just never had a nazi or nazi curious phase. I remember being horrified as a kid when someone spray painted a swastika by my elementary school.

it doesn't matter what Platner believes now, he's just too stupid to be a senator. his reddit posts about Black people not tipping was also a dead giveaway that he's too stupid to be trusted, that should've been the end of it.
They think it’s interesting but they’re just not obsessed with genealogy like I am lol. It’s also, in a way, reclaiming something that was robbed from my childhood. I just wish I could’ve gotten to know him and my Jewish side of the family. I suppose I could reach out, I’m just afraid of rejection.
I’m far from a genealogist though I have discovered some cool things. I’ve learned a good amount so far about my grandpa’s family and my Jewish relatives and ancestors. I could go on about this with someone else as my immediate family doesn’t really care.
I was only six years old, and the only memories I have of him are some videos and pictures. My dad’s also not very religious and he was out of my childhood by the time I was 11. Hell, the last time I saw him in-person was in 2012. Genealogy, particularly Jewish genealogy, has been so fascinating.
I was raised as an atheist so I’m very ignorant about different religions and beliefs. For some reason though, I’ve always felt such closeness to my Jewish heritage. I remember as a kid being so interested in Jewish culture, and I knew my paternal grandpa was Jewish. He passed away in 2003.
