The English version of Beyblade X volume 1 came out this week! I've been a huge fan for basically my entire life, so it's an honor to get to do the lettering for the English version. I'd like to do a mini tour of some of my work, and explain what it is I even do.

Yeah. Whenever I'd paste from CSP into PS it would convert transparency into white, which could be slightly annoying, but it just stopped doing that for whatever reason lmao.

I don't think I could ever move to CSP entirely. But for the things I need it's very handy.

Whenever I do hand drawn SFX I try to thug it out in Photoshop but god damn the brush engine in CSP is sooooo much better for the needs of manga (duh)

This is something fans are desperate to ask about. The planned movie, ICE ADOLESCENCE, was officially cancelled by MAPPA, which left many fans heartbroken as they loved the series dearly. We know this is a sensitive topic, and you may not be able to discuss it, but fans would be incredibly grateful for any insight you could offer as to what went wrong or why the movie was ultimately cancelled.

Hideo Katsumata: I can’t talk about the details, as that includes some very private matters. But if you ask whether it’s a creative or business issue, the reasons stem from the creative side. The main reason is that it couldn’t be made due to creative reasons. Since it was an original animation, the people involved—including the creators and the animation studio, MAPPA… among the creators, on the creative side, a situation arose where it just became impossible to proceed with production.

lol crunchyroll updated their app so that you can see fewer titles at once. It's wild how dedicated every streaming service is to making the browsing experience worse in favor of showing you the 5 things they want you to look at. That's now how anime fans work, they want to find "their" series.

it's a bit unnatural, since in usage it's closer to what we would call a plan or a script in English

like a "scenario writer" is a common credit in video games and anime but like, that's not a thing, that's not how we use that word!

wasei eigo is when Japanese uses English words but they tend to have different meanings; like "mansion" is more like an apartment etc. false friends!

scenario is one of these imo, so whenever it shows up in translated media it's one of those words I tend to think
