they tell me cats do this because they love crinkly, crunchy sounds. i can believe it - both of my cats' heads whip around when I rustle some crinkly plastic. only one of them is really zealous about chewing on it, though 😸

One of the things i like about Tokyo Revengers is that it's about post-2000 bosozoku, when the subculture was collapsing into a junior wing of the criminal underworld. There are these wild swings between preposterous, chaotic high school brawls and genuinely deadly, suspenseful situations.

It's hard to get bosozoku anime/manga just right. You gotta have the right mix of hot-blooded, righteous fist-fighting with other 15 year olds, lots of dumb-looking motorbikes and cars, and at least periodic examination of how utterly absurd the bosozoku subculture is.

It really is! I don't care if there are leaks in that house, I wish I'd inherited it. 😀

I am six books deep in Tokyo Revengers. Fun little series about an aimless 20something who slips back in time to his delinquent younger self, tasked with unraveling a gangland mystery that eventually resulted in the death of his old flame. Lots of bosozoku silliness.

yes! currently, I am borrowing Delicious in Dungeon, Hirayasumi, and Tokyo Revengers from my local library. They're all good. Delicious in Dungeon is my favorite.
Delicious in Dungeon manga 1 by Ryoko Kui. A knight in armor stands in the foreground of a dungeon corridor, holding a frying pan and spatula. In the background, the rest of a traditional adventurers' party (dwarf, elf, and halfling) can be seen, as well as a red dragon. Hirayasumi manga volume 1 by Keigo Shinzo. A pair of characters do exercises in the front yard of their ordinary house. The man, on the right, is unselfonscious, similing as he stretches and wearing a white hoodie and blue shorts. The girl to his left looks a bit embarrassed; she's wearing red striped shorts and a yellow t-shirt with a black star on it. There's a beach ball in the foreground, and laundry drying in the background. Is that an old-fashioned radio on the engawa?? Tokyo Revengers volume 1 by Ken Wakui. A twenty-something man in a red hoodie stares resolutely. He has dark, messy hair and a green backpack.

ah, heres where we start splitting hairs, because I think of all of those as super robot shows, distinctive from 'real robot' mecha shows in their relative lack of extremely detailed line drawings and somewhat more realistic behavior that mecha shows are known for~

there are a lot of great lines in ken le survivant. many of them are based around extremely dumb-sounding voices. this is one of the best line rewrite gags, though.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jji... today i learned that in the french parody dub of fist of the north star, when yuria jumps, shin yells "i wasn't finished building the railing! bring me the guy who built this, she's dead because of him!!"
Ken le Survivant "Julia, je n'avais pas fini de construire la rambarde !"

I don't fault Mark for going after an eye-grabbing headline, but man... no Sunrise mecha series can be "most obscure" when there's a whole pile of 1980s MIC shows that continue to delight younger fans when they go "wait, what the hell is J9??" and try an episode out.

yeah, 3.0+1.0 actually came out on video well before the others, presumably because their old funimation license hadnt totally lapsed yet.

i just... man. i like the rebuild films a lot, and i like dubs a lot, so basically i gotta buy 1-3 again?? hahaha. ahaha.

someday we'll get the whole story of why they dubbed these movies twice (3 times, in rebuild 2's case). is it REALLY because people were laughing at one specific dub screening that senior khara staff were present for?? could be, could be...

Not that this is really going to be a surprise to anyone, but the GKIDS Blu-ray for Evangelion 2.22 came in, and there's no Funimation dub in sight, only the Amazon/Dubbing Brothers one. Will update when 1.11 comes in if it's magically any different.

It's just awesome that all of the most powerful people in the world openly acknowledge that "low skill workers" do all of the most important work while also continuing to maintain a system that ensures the overwhelming majority of people are perpetually poor, miserable and dying.

don't worry, Sam Altman is confident that his efforts to eliminate vast numbers of jobs will all just sort of work out for the unemployed, eventually, possibly after they starve to death, which is technically a form of having it work out

Sam Altman Says If Jobs Gets Wiped Out, Maybe They Weren't Even "Real Work" to Start With
Worried that AI will destroy work? Well, Sam Altman asks if you've considered what a farmer from half a century ago thinks of your job, first.

Really?? the ps4 can't do that? haha, I had no idea

I still have a PS3 that I got as a $60 craigslist buy. the thing's a great blu-ray player, and I still have Tokyo Jungle and God Hand installed on it so I can never throw it away...

people were freaking out when this got announced at $100 MSRP, always knew it'd go cheaper

that's still pretty spendy for a movie I already got...
