Huge nerd. Sings and codes, not necessarily in that order. Not big on own pronouns, happy to respect yours.

Leave my trans brothers and sisters alone.

Taking blood thinners in late middle age is a continual source of excitement.

Oh look, a three inch diameter multicolor bruise I have no memory of acquiring that makes it look like I was hit with a baseball bat. Fun.

One of the few positives to come out of the last 300 years of Russian history is that it's hard to beat мат for invective.
A colloquial Russian equivalent to “mind your own business” is тебя не ебут, ты не подмахивай. It means “you’re not getting fucked, so don’t wiggle your ass.”

Like this post, hang around for the book I'm writing: New Opera and the Ethics of Care
Proulx's comment about opera having to have sad endings is indicative of her lack of knowledge about the genre but it's also suggestive of how non-minoritized audiences especially want opera to be non-stop trauma porn, to the detriment of the genre and its makers.
Brokeback Mountain — which Annie Proulx specifically disavowed in the Paris Review on account of the number of people with too powerful a “fantasy life” who wrote to her to say they wished its leads had gotten a happy ending. Which would have “mangled” the story (hell of a word choice, Proulx!)

Reading a great book (Learn Faster, Perform Better, by Molly Gebrian) on the neuroscience and cognitive psychology of practicing. It's the intersection of several subjects I find fascinating, with a lot of practical applications for performing musicians.

...aaaand off to rehearsal again

The issue is not that we don't talk to each other. It's that some people think that "talking" means getting to debate your existence, and that's abusive and controlling.
CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

It’s the kind of diagnosis that a toddler would land on.

I won't be donating to @propublica.org until they fix this.

(And preferably fire the management people responsible for it.)
1/ At bargaining yesterday, @propublica.org management said that they should have 100% discretion to replace workers with AI and would not commit to labeling future AI-generated content.

I see we're doing Pivot to Video discourse again.

As someone who spent far too much time in 2020 and 2021 recording, re-recording, swearing about recordings, re-re-recording, hating the sight (and sound) of myself in recordings, and editing recordings of myself and other people...

No.

I will NEVER vote for a politician who votes for anti-trans legislation. Never. I don't care who it is, it's a dead issue. Move on. If my vote is so important to the future of democracy they should have thought of that before they voted to exterminate my child.

Mines his youth like Gaston,
And goes stomping around in reboots like Gaston

As a filmmaking trend it's EXHAAAAAAAASPERAAAAAAAAATING

Why do we need more Gaston?🎶
I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory

he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him

I've never been happy with "cozy" and "romantasy" as descriptors, but I've been enjoying a lot of books marketed that way this past year.

(On the other hand, I haven't been able to read anything even vaguely dystopian in the last few years. Far too close to reality.)
