The Midnight Baker Who Bakes at Midnight. She/her (they/m in a pinch), religion: cake. Baked devotionals and other offbeat stuff at feraltomatoes.com. No worries, my existence infuriates me too.
Getting used to hating it is going swimmingly well
“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

I named my fists Common and Sense because I'm about to bring the Paine
I named my fists Blood and Meridian because I’m fixing to Judge your ass.

Your periodic reminder that when someone's definition of "winning" includes "the opponent loses something," they will happily continue losing, and losing a LOT, as long as the opponent is losing something. Because as far as they're concerned, every tiny theft is a point in their column.

"It is against the TOS to be talked into suicide by our LLM" is possibly the most evil tech bro thing I've ever read
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I really really hope it's not Quark.

We are very fortunate that even though our dude is not into gaining skills, he understands that WE are and appreciates what we do with those skills. We're all anti-slop, but he has the most stickers and antipathy. Which is HUGE considering how easily it could've gone the other way.
There's a part of learning, which generative AI completely turns into dogshit, which is *doing something you could not have done before*

Whether it's drawing, playing an instrument, solving a physics problem, organizing an essay, you find yourself doing easily what previously you found overwhelming

LRP: The public does understand authors don't make a living. They've understood it for at least *checks* 40 years. They just don't see it as a problem. Not when you can cluck your tongue at your creative progeny and say smugly "We tried to warn you, dear."

95% of authors are not making a living through book publishing. The public needs to understand this.

Andor is mostly build. Rogue One is mostly end-stage storytelling. Of the two, Andor works better because it's invested more in its growth, while Rogue One just sorta throws shit at the protags. Still love how Jyn and Cassian are swapped from stereotypical gender though.
I like Rogue One personally but tbh I would only defend it as either an interesting artifact of a troubled creative process or a potentially promising proof of concept for Andor

It’s extremely flawed at best
rogue one is bad folks. i have believed this since i saw it in theaters and no subsequent rewatch has changed my mind. basically a chop job until the final sequence, which is good (for star wars)

Yes, this has been "proven false." No, I do not plan on taking it down. Why? Because I don't believe a word Google says about privacy. They don't have to tell the truth. And now that they have data on how many people will (not) drop them if they actually DO do this, it's all the more inevitable.
Heads up if you use Gmail. Your emails can be used to train AI/LLMs. Yes, your author emails containing your stories!

My Cintiq is at least 15 years old, Wacom doesn't even have its drivers easily accessible anymore

My PCs last about 10 years on average

This is why I used to approve chiropractic and such at my WC claims desk, even though office policy was not to. I'd also very happily show that it cost us less than throwing out a bunch of stuff that didn't work and sometimes made things worse. No really, I enjoyed the heck out of that.
If rubbing a crystal on the aching thigh your doctor can't treat makes it feel better and that helps you get through the day, I love your crystal for you and you get to have it and don't let anyone tell you it doesn't do anything, because EVEN IF IT IS A PLACEBO, it is doing something.

Today, this new day, I am infinitely thankful for Prozac and its lasting effect of permitting me to simply stop caring about a thing I would, as a younger person, have been compelled to explore more thoroughly.

The story of how Ni'Var came to be, told Rhuidean-style through T'Rina's ancestors. Could be either a season's worth or just a movie, depending on how in-depth it goes.
What is your Star Trek project that only you would love?

All of the TOS episodes rewritten in the Mirror Universe. 79 episodes of pure uncut goateed chaos.

I addressed this when Biden was being poked at and dropped out. He has loved ones. *This* poor guy isn't loved enough by anyone around him for even one of them to truly look out for him. It doesn't help that they're all in the mindset where being loved is overrated, but that excuses nothing.

Awwww crud! I remember playing "Alright Guy" for the guy that either was or would be my BF and him not understanding that the whole thing was meant as humor, not a real defense of his actual self. I mean, unless it was? Either way I'm sad he's gone.
"Country music star Todd Snider, known for his alt-country hits like Alright Guy and Just Like Old Times, has died following a battle with a mysterious illness. He was 59."
