Did PC gaming emissions grow in 2025 – and is Nvidia to blame?
One of my most-read GTG pieces of 2025 was hot out the gates – published in the very first week of January. In it, I asked “What is going on with Nvidia GPUs and PC gaming emissions” and I looked at t...

Nothing Trump says -- including publicly shitting on the contributions of Australian armed forces to US war aims, whether in Afghanistan or elsewhere -- will alter Australia's status as loyal servant to American power.
The head of Australia’s largest veteran organisation has categorically rejected Trump’s claim that allied soldiers “stayed a little back” from the frontlines when they supported the US campaign in Afghanistan, calling the comments “unfathomable”.

ICE pigs won’t help you in an emergency and they’ll still lock you up even if you literally save their lives. They should’ve just let this fucker choke on his own tongue, it would’ve saved more lives in the aggregate.

If the admin's strategic goal was to break public resistance to immigration enforcement activities, it was a tactical mistake to go to the Twin Cities.

Yet another data point supporting the view that there is change afoot in the global financial system.

I know it's trite, but this is all "how to dismantle a reserve currency."

The dollar as the go-to haven in times of crisis, well, that appears (again) to be shaky.

If anyone here has ever used my research (book, chapters, articles) in their teaching could you send me the details of where and how so I can document 'research impact' better for my institution. Could be on neoliberalism, unions, heat and climate change, anything. Many thanks!

There is so much good stuff in this report but man does this stand out - it has never been so important to switch from fossil to clean rather than from coal to gas. This is great to see
I'll end on a goodbye...for coal.

The coal share across the EU fell to 9.2% in 2025. Ten years ago, coal made up a 25% of EU electricity generation.

19 EU countries now have less than 5% coal (and no, its not being swapped for gas).

Coal is on the way out...

Oh yeah I bet it's being discussed. In terms like "wow, you can actually say that?" and "gee, people seem to like a leader that isn't a gigantic suckhole" wonder what the lessons the govt will take from that might be! Won't hold my breath on a change of strategy

I'm sorry, abolishing ICE is now off the table as the centrist compromise.

The floor is now The Hague.

The most important technological revolution of our lifetime has nothing to do with AI:

Important to realize also that, once constructed, solar infrastructure just keeps working*, for decades, with very little additional cost. There's no need for a constant stream of inputs like fossil fuels.
Check this one fact out:

"In 2024, the total installed electricity capacity of the planet—every coal, gas, hydro, and nuclear plant and all of the renewables—was about 10 terawatts. The Chinese solar supply chain can now pump out 1 terawatt of panels every year."
