I read the piece. You shouldn't. He dismisses the "No Kings" protests as liberals in blue cities. He invokes Rosa Parks, as if rural white people in the 60s loved everything that the movement then was doing. "We need a movement but not this one" is a core centrist tact these days.

God, the revelation when MacLeod was looking for Methos and he finds this inoffensive-looking grad student listening to music instead. Methos tossed him a beer and MacLeod was flummoxed. (this remained their dynamic for the rest of the show)

oh and he liked Queen. At one point he was on Duncan's barge (in Paris. he lived on a barge in the Seine for a while) looking for something to listen to, and he was like "opera, opera, opera...what is this, no Queen?" and threw the CDs down in disgust

It's about time Strange Days finally begins getting the retrospective love and respect it deserves. To me, it's the best pre-Matrix cyberpunk film other than Blade Runner and Robocop, and still better than most cyberpunk films made since.

At a local No Kings rally near Innsmouth, Massachusetts, *every* protester showed up in an inflatable frog costume.

They must be from a different supplier than the Portland frog's costume, though. Bystanders describe the costumes as more like fish-frogs, "batrachian," with an odd, loping gait.

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:

ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.

Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

Historians of Black dance/music, help me! It just today dawned on me that tap and rap have A LOT in common...are there scholars of the decline of one and the rise of the other? Because the Cotton Club greats were alive at the dawn of hiphop and I feel sure there were influences going back and forth.
