This is fucking fantastic. Completely worth zooming in to read the tiny English text.

"It is a mishnah to sound the trumpets"

(by the Portland frog calligraphy artist!)
New calligraphic work: "On Resisting ICE and the DHS"

This one is complex enough that I am providing a key to how it's structured, similar to those keys you see that show how a Talmud page is divided up. See the alt for the explanation.

Actually, leftover scumbags from the NIXON administration.

Cheney, Rumsfeld, Roger Ailes, Roger Stone, Kissinger, all should have died in prison at a bare minimum. The George W Bush administration would never have even happened if we didn't let this nest of fascist ratfuckers fester.
The main reason we're in this situation is a bunch of war criminal shitbags from the Reagan administration paved the way for fascism.

And the best thing you can do is ask the grunts not to follow illegal orders. What about your part of the bargain?

Libraries are probably the last free Third Space that you can use year-round, too. Librarians are there to help you, and they fight for your right to read, and your privacy. We connect people with services and ideas and experiences. Libraries are powerful and awesome.
Libraries aren't just books. They provide gathering places, free internet, and programs like story hours and classes and films. Using your library demonstrates to your local government its importance to your community and can affect funding decisions.

I don't know man, remember when they used to try and sell us like...TVs and cars and holidays? Now it feels like they've given up even pretending anyone has money, the only thing left to advertise is the vain hope that there's some way to claw your way out of the horrible financial hole you're in

This is one of the things that's often missing from online discussions of anti-capitalist theory. The question that actually determines our socioeconomic status and fate is this:

Do you live off what you're paid for your own labor, or off the profits you draw from the labor of others?
I can’t believe you idiots are still arguing with me about this. Idc what your job is paying you now, you still have to labor for your money. You’re working class.

All it takes is an unfortunate accident or illness for you to be in the poor house. Medical debt and fallout would cripple you. Stfu.
All of you are poor. These hypothetical poor people everyone is discussing are us. We’re poor. Idc if you make 6 figures or not. You’re poor too.

Those of us who study immigration knew it was a very bad idea to centralize the immigration bureaucracy in DHS after 9/11 and to make immigration policy synonymous w/ national security. Plus FLOODING DHS with cash & other resources. In the Third Reconstruction, this agency needs to be dismantled.
And of course Trump is gutting the watchdogs designed to provide a check on this sort of atrocious behavior. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

You really have to read this thread. The genius of Tom Stoppard, the fragility of memory, the magic of theatre — and the glorious stubbornness of a researcher who would not stop.
Eleven years ago, I wrote to Tom Stoppard to ask about this coup de théâtre from 1949. It took me down an unexpected rabbit hole - in memory of Stoppard, here's what I found.

From what I’ve tasted of desire
I'd almost rather end in fire.
But when I guess at how we'll stop
I've seen enough of creeping crud
To say we'll grind down, trapped in slop
Instead of blood,
Or fire,
Or ice.
