It’s really being used heavily these days as a call-and-response for shitty people; just a quick test to see if you’re dealing with someone who is equally fed up with the expectation that you treat human beings with basic courtesy.

I really think that even most people who think language policing was a huge problem over the past 5-10 years have no patience for the disgusting little freaks who have tried to bring back "retarded" as a slur. It's just so low-rent and such a tell that the person using it is not worth your time

Whatever the reasoning, it is incredibly disappointing. Plus, a reminder to @chrismurphyct.bsky.social that while GOP ratings suck, there's no great love for Democrats. So try something new? The Senate can surely move to retract the approval of Petey for lying to them at confirmation time.

I don't recall where I found this, but I'd say this looks about right.
Two scales illustrating the social environment composed by men. In America, firms spy on us, right? And they spy on us in ways that are very bad for us. So if you're a nurse, preferentially, hospitals want to hire you as a contractor through an app because that way you're not in a union. It used to be through a staffing agency. Now there's four national apps. They all bill themselves as "Uber for nursing". And because we don't have a privacy law ... every other form of privacy violation is lawful. So they can ask the unregulated data brokers that have these deep dossiers on every person how much credit card debt that nurse is carrying. And the more credit card debt they're holding, and the more overdue it is, the lower the wage they're offered. That's regulatory capture. People who make money by charging a desperation premium to nurses are among the people who help lobby to make sure we don't get a privacy law.

This refugee burden is the leading cause of social dysfunction in America, something that did not exist after World War II (Failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and large deficits, etc.). As an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota. Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for “prey” as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone. The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst “Congressman/woman” in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother, does nothing but hatefully complain about our Country, its Constitution, and how “badly” she is treated, when her place of origin is a decadent, backward, and crime ridden nation…
