A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

How does this sh1t happen and zeitgeist is that bike lanes are dangerous?!?

Also, while I took this photo I could clearly hear a couple engaged in a very loud, energetic intimate moment.

My Brooklyn brain said the two are connected...

For 7 weeks, I've been alcohol free. Some of you might say sober.

On this journey, I've discovered Good Times & it is delicious!

If you're looking for an alcohol replacement. I highly recommend this brewery.

Red Flavor Flav'n in New York City.
The photograph captures a street-level scene in front of a tall, modern office building marked “250 Broadway.” The composition draws the eye upward to a large American flag suspended from a pole above the entrance, its broad red and white stripes rippling downward toward the sidewalk. The flag’s movement adds a sense of fluidity against the hard geometry of the building’s black granite façade and reflective glass panels. Behind the flag, the grid-patterned ceiling of the lobby glows with warm light, mirroring a muted reflection of the flag on the glass doors and golden wall panels inside.

In the foreground, a person dressed in a striking red-and-black patterned coat and matching hat walks toward the building’s revolving doors. Their vivid outfit, adorned with an irregular camouflage-like motif, provides a powerful contrast to the corporate tones of the surrounding architecture. The individual’s confident stride and flamboyant attire inject personality and color into an otherwise neutral urban environment.

To the right, another pedestrian, dressed in subdued gray tones, walks past—creating a quiet juxtaposition between individuality and conformity. A large hanging planter of yellow flowers on a black lamppost adds a natural accent to the city scene, softening the hard lines of the façade. Reflections of skyscrapers shimmer faintly in the background, grounding the scene within a dense downtown setting.

Altogether, the image conveys the intersection of civic symbolism, urban architecture, and personal expression. The flag evokes institutional gravity and national pride, while the person in red transforms the scene into a visual dialogue between order and creativity—between the monumental and the human scale of the city. The photo feels distinctly New York: bold, layered, and alive with contrasts.

"Vote for Cuomo — and make America great again!"

A key part of Cuomo's path to victory in the mayoral race requires him to walk a tightrope when it comes to Trump — persuading voters he can stand up to the president while courting those who ardently support him.

This door that the station agent can unlock, but they refuse to.

I have a stroller and am too wide to make it through the fare gate, so I have to use this door.

Instead of unlocking it, they demand that I push the crash bar and wait.

Everyone else sees the stroller and unlocks the door.
