Bernie Sanders made some pretty ridiculous comments related to border security and how basically border security is necessary to have a nation. So was the U.S. not a nation prior to the manufactured border security panic? Because people were crossing that southern border fairly freely prior to then.
Reminder that the idea of "border security" is political and a result of moral panic. In 1965, Congress passed amendments to the Immigration and Nationality Act that put number limits on immigration and ended longstanding guest worker agreements with Mexico. This helped lead to agencies like ICE. /1

Eric Adams, endorsing Cuomo: "New York can't be Europe, folks ... Those Islamic extremisms that are burning churches in Nigeria, that are destroying communities in Germany, that have taken over the logical thinkings. And that's what I'm fighting for."

i mean i don't think you can separate any of this discussion from the fact that so many of the participants are men who clearly have hang-ups about their inability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity

You really see how little they give a fuck anymore when the Beneficent Emergency Troop Donation is barely half the money the president is shaking down the DOJ for

This is a situation where the (non) coverup (until way way too late) is far worse than the initial indiscretion. The judgment and communication skills - or rather extreme lack thereof - displayed in his and his team’s responses are even more obviously disqualifying than the tattoo itself.
It’s so bizarre not to deal with it. Had he told this story about his past and how his views had changed, with the tattoo already removed or covered, I think a lot more people would have given the benefit of the doubt.
CNN confirms that multiple sources suggest Graham Platner knew his tattoo was a Nazi symbol years prior to launching his campaign — and is now blatantly lying about it.

it’s wild that this is just sort of the most openly corrupt administration of all time and they’re just allowed to do that and most media doesn’t say a word about it
