I've been taking it for granted that people know what alt-text is for, but that assumption was clearly wrong.

Alt-text is read out loud by assistive technologies like screen readers. It's primarily for people who are visually impaired.

It absolutely was Drizly that I was thinking of, and they did get acquired by Uber Eats.

And frankly, it turned me off booze delivery because the process was NEVER a smooth one, from drop off to ID check to availability.

Now I'd much rather ride a bus a few miles away and pick it up in person.
