7/ Pottery/clay/ceramics. It's incredibly humbling - even if you do everything right, it can still come out horribly wrong 🤣
A 4" wide ceramic jar and lid with a vivid blue/green/chartreuse glaze in a turtle shell pattern, the "frozen pond" technique. One of the glazes used in this technique is a "flux", and causes other glazes to move and bloom into different colors. Another of the glazes is a celadon, which doesn't move at all. When you combine dits of the flux glazes with one that doesn't move, crazy organic "firework" shapes emerge in the "frame" of the stable glaze. A stoneware case shaped like a beaker with a very narrow neck. The vase has a drippy glaze on it, matte and metallic and cloudy pale greens and blue-greens. A small plate with a Chinese cloud texture impressed on the surface. The clouds are "outlined" by an underglaze a shade darker than the celadon layered atop it. Half a piece of a small bowl with the cloud texture. Clay is super fragile after it dries but before it's bisque fired, basically just fancy dirt like an anthill. I picked this one up and half of it stayed on the shelf, no idea what happened, likely it dried unevenly and caused this crack.

Blessed are You, who releases the captive.

There should have been an All for All deal two years ago, but here we are--after so much harm, so much annihilation.

Every life saved is a thing of consequence.

May this be the beginning of a new future for all the peoples in the Land.

No Kings Means No Paychecks.

Literally saying if you don't pay fealty, you don't get YOUR OWN TAX MONEY BACK. You really couldn't write a bigger advertisement for this thing.

I swear if the elected Dems fold before this.

New study finds Democrats represent public opinion better than Republicans: "the quality of statehouse democracy, here meaning the dynamic relationship between opinion and policy, is substantially weakened by Republican Party control of state government."

I'm baffled by this "paid" shit, I mean, I know the reds don’t do anything if it doesn't benefit them personally/financially, so being paid for protesting makes sense.

But also who's gonna pay me enough money for me to get pepper sprayed? Beaten and zip-tied? That's expensive.
bestsloth.bsky.social
Shit. I've been protesting for years and have never gotten a dime.

Clearly, I'm doing something wrong.

People treat it like there’s some kind of competition for who’s been victimized the most and not a collaboration to make sure we’re all victimized as little as possible

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

This is correct, in part - as the grim, military historian in me feels the need to note - it is psychologically much harder to get soldiers to open fire on people they view as 'respectable.'

And I dread, with grim increasingly certainty, that we are headed to a point where that matters.

protests against this government should include white Boomer grandmothers who meet for pilates class, get a pitcher of mimosas & walk together to the public space

we need people in the street who think everyone can talk their way out of a speeding ticket, they're key to winning

Like, even snake oil salesmen had to promise their customers a benefit. This snake oil will heal your ailments. It will benefit you. You get something out of buying my snake oil.

These fash tech dipshits can't even do that. It's just "if you buy my snake oil I get to have more money."

It's funny that literally the only use case zuckerberg can imagine for technology is "I get to surveil you 24/7 inside the panopticon I own"

Like he can't even be arsed to detail the benefit to anyone other than him.

No, they won’t.
