Personally, I think it's wrong that Starmer, with a Jewish family, family in Isreal and as a committed Zionist who receives donations from Labour Friends of Isreal, has any binding say, without extreme scrutiny, on the Isreal and Palestine issue. We need better.

The government says it is “driving forward private finance efforts for Gaza's reconstruction.”

As if enabling a genocide wasn't enough. Now, they are allowing private companies to make some money out of it as well.

Have they no shame?

Lib Dem's Daisy Cooper calls for an assessment into the threat Elon Musk poses to UK democracy after Tommy Robinson said Musk is paying for his legal fees

People still haven't forgiven the Lib Dems for tuition fees and Labour MPs think that everyone is going to forget their utter lack of failure to act in a literal genocide?! Politicians are so detached from reality.

Labour MPs reckon that if the ceasefire holds it will be harder for opponents to mobilize against them over the Israel-Palestine issue in the next election. There are concerns though about whether the fragile agreement will hold. More in London Playbook PM.

13 Tried-and-True Rules for Creating Meaningful Social Change by Saul Alinksy, Rules for Radicals, 1971

5. "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

Sorry but there is too much information to fit into the available alt-text space but I've listed all 13 Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinksy in this thread https://bsky.app/profile/localnotail.bsky.social/post/3l33rhoyick2v

You can find the book online to buy / read / download, or in good bookshops and libraries. Probably not in Florida though.

Indeed.

The government has chosen to prioritise reducing (skilled, legal, for work) migration over growth and hence over improving public services.

No economic rationale - but even worse, no political rationale either.
stephenkb.bsky.social
One mistake Labour made in their first year is loading quite a few new costs onto business all at once. They are risking doing something similar on immigration, I think.

I was in a meeting yesterday warning that if we lose the ECHR we are Royally Fucked. I think people think it could never happen - but remember everyone said that about Brexit. Let’s not be as stupid as then.

Woah! So Labour's position really is, 'telling us off for breaching human rights undermines the case for human rights'? Proper Trumpian stuff from Labour's answer to Suella Braverman.

Brexit voters pay additional tax to compensate everyone else for their fook up. Flag touchers to pay rental fee for every flag painted or mounted on roundabouts, local council poles and posts. 🇫🇴🤣

Some changes to immigration rules today, not just increasing English language requirements, mean migrants looking to live and work in UK will have to meet far far higher standards than British nationals, while paying vast sums to be allowed to do so. That isn't a system based on "fairness". 1/
