I never thought I would say this but here goes: Nordic countries need an independent nuclear deterrent. Simple as that.

So many people in Kyiv are still without heating, electricity after the Russian attack.

The temperatures at night is ~ -20°C.

No heating means thousands of families (the elderly, the disabled) just freezing in their homes.

If you’re going to kidnap a dictator why wouldn’t you start with Putin?

Make sense?

Well, let's be honest about it. The start of 2026 has been a bit of a disaster.

My research assistant has lost motivation. Perhaps I better call it a day too.

Of course...

I really hope that the US would be ruled by serious people. Alas.

Crumbling of international law and return of the Great Powers behaviour leads only to a more chaotic world where the risk of unchecked aggression and war increases.
Two things about Venezuela.

First, Maduro's regime was not legitimate. Second, treating Latin America as the US's backyard is not legitimate.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Quiet day at the Faculty. Perfect for writing.

So, this is 2026.

I'm not impressed.

Toivoa sopii että tulisi hyvä vuosi, mutta saapas nähdä...😝

Academic social media is filled with stories about the nasty Reviewer 2. This makes me wonder how this mythical anonymous character thinks. I believe I have the answer; this is what the Reviewer 2 really wants to say to the author.

Paul Feyerabend wrote to his friend from Berkely, California in the summer of 1968.

"No theater, no opera, no interesting people, except that we have the highest percentage of crazy people in America and I think in the world."

I do know that Boris Yeltsin was a heavy drinker but he was not a bloodthirsty tyrant filled with twisted neo-imperialist madness.

Well, at least there are no disturbances in the faculty corridors at this time. Of course, I am not counting the ever-present Dean as a disturbance.

Colleague: "What would you say to that nasty reviewer who shredded your submission!"

Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental, obviously
Why can faculty council meetings be torturous?

For instance, when grading a doctoral dissertation, a random professor can say "I haven't read the thesis, it's not my fied and I wasn't present at the defense, but...", and no one tells him to shut up.

All I can think "Shut the f*ck up dude!"
