What’s going to happen is that these Medicaid cuts are going to go into effect, and hospitals and clinics are going to close, and treatment won’t be available.

And then we’re going to get mainstream news stories with headlines like “Trump Gives Speech Blaming Obamacare for Mass Hospital Closures.”

This absolutely is Jeff Bezos’s fault. I feel sorry for the excellent journalists and other staff caught up in his mismanagement, but this is his doing. And it will only lead to the Post doing even worse, which will then — almost inevitably — lead to more layoffs.
Some news: The Washington Post is preparing to cut newsroom staff even after several high profile exits. Bezos’ new opinion editor has privately told people The Post is in “severe financial distress.” Details in @status.news www.status.news/p/washington...
Pain at The Post

Also giving money to a food bank is better than a food donation! They already get too much food and have too few volunteers to sort it and too many give expired or bad food. And they have ways to buy bulk food at a discount if you give money!
SNAP funding runs out at the end of this month and food banks will need extra support.

If you can donate, please do so.

Consider donating some respirators too! Long lines in crowded place can lead to Covid spread. Let’s keep people fed & healthy!

Never mind every other single abominable or corrupt thing to this miserable moment, the extrajudicial and unevidenced execution of 34 human beings by the U.S. Navy on the orders of a U.S. President acting in peacetime is sufficient for his impeachment and conviction.

If we were a republic, I mean.

I hope everyone remembers, nobody steals food. Thats not something you have ever seen anybody do, and definitely wont see any of this holiday season. It just doesnt happen, ever.

I just saw a video that said cutting SNAP would lower food prices because it would cut demand.

I'm starting to think that Econ 101 either needs to be drastically overhauled or that you cannot take it unless you commit to taking four econ courses one heavily focused on externalities and elasticity.

Now is a really good time to donate to food banks, and do food runs for mutual aid groups. Also, do menstrual product runs.
I wonder how much food theft spikes with desperate people just trying to feed their families. I'm sure there will be a media panic about it.

One of the functions of these murderous attacks is testing for compliance. Trump and Hegseth are figuring out who will obey illegal orders and who is likely to object.
And there you have it. These strikes are clearly not legal. Pete will push commanders aside until he finds one who won’t question these extrajudicial killings. #SOUTHCOM

I for one think the Epstein Ballroom will be magnificent. I love the decor theme of “what if Uday Hussein ran a Ramada Inn.” And giving it a theme song everyone will associate with it is a stroke of brilliance! “Thank Heaven for Little Girls” is very catchy.

There is still both (1) the pending en banc call in the Portland case; & (2) the merits appeal in the California case. Judge Berzon’s “statement” may well be an effort by a sizeable chunk of the court to nudge their colleagues in one or both of those contexts.

What comes next there is what matters.

I lived with my dad when I was very young and he didn’t apply for food stamps or free school lunches, though we qualified.

So, I went hungry. It was awful. I begged neighbors for saltine crackers. I can say it was the worst time of my life.

Children shouldn’t go hungry. Restore SNAP benefits.

It's notable that "an authentic working class party" isn't referring to "how can we encourage more Black, Hispanic and Asian Americans to become political candidates and address the reasons and challenges why they don't run and get elected?"
Fuck this. If “Nazi tattoo” doesn’t cross the line, you have no line.

There are two ways to do big tent politics

The Matty Yglesias Method involves compromising our principles to make the tent more appealing

The other method involves finding common ground that already exists, then working to expand that common ground without sacrificing a single principle
this feels completely banal? yes, a big tent political party is going to include voters who have bigoted views. i don’t think anyone has argued otherwise? the actual question at hand is “to what extent should a political party ostensibly committed to equality appeal to popular prejudices?”
Bigots in the tent
What did you think winning meant? vibes? papers? essays? losers.

It's believable that he's not actually a Nazi and genuinely believes in what he's been campaigning.

The issue is that it's not enough, not for this job. He's been too comfortable being too Nazi adjacent, and in a way where he should have known better. And anyone qualified for this job would have.

there are good & worthwhile historical & legal arguments for why the unitary executive is nonsense but to my mind the most straightforward argument is that it makes no logical sense that the president has absolute removal power over the people whose job it is to keep the executive branch accountable
The Inspector General system is basically broken now. Most IGs have been fired, most positions remain vacant. Those who remain or would take the job pose no risk to holding the regime accountable.
Congress added more barriers to Trump firing IGs after his first term. He just ignored them.

please donate what you can. $100 can feed several families for a month because of the discounts and purchasing power they have
