Very cool. Love that movie! Saw it when it came out at the 70mm cinerama Uptown Theatre in DC… vividly remember it. In some ways I liked it more than ALIEN since this was a scifi western, not space horror. The headline of TIME mag’s review back then—never forgot it, sooo perfect: “High Moon”

This is some really shitty trickery, Sky Cinemas #SantaFe. If I’d known this was an effing #NETFLIX movie I wouldn’t have paid you $ to see it! But your movie poster MAKES NO MENTION of Netflix or anything else one expects to see in a movie poster.

There was a semi-famous techie I once heard give a lecture, and one of his tips for success was everyone should include an “Enemies” section in their resume. He shared his own resume as an example. It was… creepy.

Interesting how many animal shelters and humane society locations seem to have pit bulls and such. Is there an over-abundance of them? Are they the most frequently abandoned/given away breed? Perhaps due to their reputation?

[It's interesting how so many "happy indigenous day" pictures on social media today show what appears to be the desert Southwest. The indigenous population was everywhere, all over the land masses. A good time to check out books like "1491."]

Rest assured "the customer is always right" is not the prevailing sentiment anymore imho. It's more like "how do we completely avoid customers" and then deploying "no-reply" style email addresses, removing phone numbers from websites, and launching "AI" chat "support" systems and useless FAQ pages.

A guy I know used to own 2 restaurants, but found it to be a brutal business almost impossible to profit in. But he loved to cook. So he started a new business making desserts for other restaurants. It grew. It boomed. Nabisco bought it for gazillions. Soon those desserts wound up everywhere. 🤷‍♂️

They really blew it on that one. I keep imagining an early example of Netflix's internal FlixGPT telling the execs, "uh, sure, audiences love The OA but according to my AI genius, you could be making more money with some stupid reality show" and the execs reeling and immediately cancelling The OA 🤷‍♂️

Idea for a movie:

Jesus returns to Earth, appears in some city in some US state, cops kill him. He reappears in another US state, gets killed again. Over and over he keeps reappearing but Americans keep killing him. Eventually he gives up on US, appears in another country, all goes well.
