The Missouri GOP supermajority has schemed to defund public schools and send the money to private religious schools. This will close the rural schools in my state.

I still can't believe they're trying to make a war happen out of thin air. Not just their abrogation of Congress's role in formally declaring a war -- that's been a slippery slope for decades -- but their total unwillingness even to go through the motions of drumming up public support.

On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.
