I don't think there's any argument there. I expect it's not visible to those outside the industry, but there's real despair for engineers & the like inside tech because those CEOs control the culture of the industry and everyone worries about how to find a job if they don't conform to that culture.

not to be trite and live laugh love but also: protest can be fun and antiauthoritarianism can be playful because you’re only going to get the one life—these are the structural conditions in which you find yourself, so why not make joy where you can

we should all go out on October 18 and it's good that so many of us are planning to. but we should all start talking to each other about what we're going to do next, too - what we will withhold together if the abuses continue. we can go on offense, too!

Why Protests Should Be Promises

If you think that professors exist as repositories of knowledge that students ask for answers, you’re missing the entire point of a college education.

We’re here to teach students how to do research, how to analyze and argue, how to think for themselves — how to find the answers on their own.
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

On behalf of the nation's morning people, I apologize to you (as I do to my patient but annoyed husband just about every single day). Is there a 12-steps program for perky morning people?

Agree 100%. They are cybertruck level stupid and consumer-alien.

I am in favor of the idea that we make signs that state what we want not just what we protest. Healthcare but so many basic principles (equity, democracy, environment, education, science, affordability...).Maybe the signs will help Dem "leaders" in Congress speak up and fight for our future.

Sanders: Saturday, millions of people are going to come out on a No Kings day. Speaker Johnson said this is a hate America rally because people are coming out expressing their concerns.. It’s not a hate America rally, it's a love America rally.

AOC: You're damn right that it's a Democratic priority to keep people from getting poisoned, from dangerous chemicals

You're damn right that it's a Democratic priority to bring down the cost of housing

If they want to say that that's a Democratic priority, they're right,

AOC: And they are able to radicalize a generation of young boys in particular, away from healthy masculinity and into an insecure masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them.

AOC: When one party wants the votes of another party. You negotiate, you come to a compromise and you pass a bill. That is schoolhouse rock. And that is how things should be

Sanders: They have refused to negotiate. And anyone thinks that tomorrow they'll suddenly start negotiating. I think, is smoking what is illegal in many states

AOC: And should be legal in more.

Trump has frozen or canceled $28B in funding for infrastructure projects in Democratic congressional districts.

Meanwhile, representatives of those districts are fighting to extend ACA subsidies — more than half of which go to people in GOP-held districts.

Remember this.

Meta has removed a Chicago ICE-tracking Facebook page.

The move follows Apple and Google removing ICE activity tracking apps from their app stores.

The removals came after a demand from Trump’s DOJ.
