It is so embarrassing that it has taken nearly a decade for a British minister to say this, a statement of the absolute bloody obvious
No-one seems to have noticed, but many of the core developments in the Mandelson/Epstein story these last few days have been broken on this website. @pickardje.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social are both posting each breaking development on BlueSky, not X.
Multimillionaire Brexiter, Tim Martin, urges pubs to back Reform. Just like he urged the country to vote for Brexit. Too bad if it makes you poorer. Too bad for the children he’ll push back into poverty. Tim wants more money. And he couldn’t give a shit about the cost for everybody else.

🚨BREAKING: Puerto Rico has been part of the United States since 1898, and people still act confused that Puerto Ricans are American.

States that joined after Puerto Rico:
• Oklahoma — 1907
• New Mexico — 1912
• Arizona — 1912
• Alaska — 1959
• Hawaii — 1959

Yet somehow this is still news to folks.

Next time somebody tries to get me to justify the existence of the humanities, I’ll just point out how for the past two Super Bowls we’ve all jumped online and engaged in collective semiotics and hermeneutics of the half-time show as text.

OK "god bless america" and then naming every country in the americas from south to north is absolute king shit

Left: Zia Yusuf, "Mandelson deserves to be in jail. The buck stops with the executive, Keir Starmer is a disgrace to his office and should resign"

Right: Nathan Gill is in jail for accepting Russian bribes. Using Zia Yusuf's logic, isn't Nigel Farage also a disgrace, and should also resign?

In the 1930s students and dons referred to Wodehouse enthusiasts (including themselves) as xylodomists. A hybrid Greek-Latin word and thus not for the purist who dislikes the word television. But a good word.

My simple rules for contemporary politics: 1) whatever the issue, the answer is not racism, or sexism, or hate ... 2) there are never simple issues to complex problems.
