I cannot aspire to the heights of contrarianism that would allow me to talk about Nirvana like this. (Though people did it all the time while they were active!) But I absolutely agree that "Superunknown" holds up as well as any record from those years, and that Soundgarden is deserving.
soundgarden should’ve been in the hall of fame long before pearl jam or that talentless self-important garden gnome who fronted nirvana, but man, get brandi carlisle’s shitty country ass tf out

In no way trying to convince you, but I think Badmotorfinger has better songs and Superunknown is a better album. I genuinely wish Black Hole Sun had not been released as a video, since it ruined what I think is a great song. Like Suicide and 4th of July are both perfect, as is the title track.

I think "Superunknown" is the definitive song of that type, but "Dirt" is 1A and AIC takes it on bulk.

yes, there’s a clear, stylistic dividing line between the two records and if you know the difference between hiring Terry Date and Michael Beinhorn (producers of Badmotorfinger and Superunknown, respectively), it’s right there.
