UN Ambassador Mike Waltz on Greenland: "Denmark just doesn't have the resources or capacity to do what needs to be done in the northern region. And to the Democrats who say 'they're giving you full access,' everybody knows if you're renting a place you treat it differently than if you own it."

Renting BMWs by the hour to cosplay as dripped out London rude boys is fucking tragic.

That's funny, the guy renting the Whitehouse seems to be treating it like he owns it and R's seem fine with that.

If all goes well during attorney review and inspections then we will be buying what is essentially our dream home pretty soon. It feels good to do that after renting crappy 1bed apartments since 2010. It feels bad to do that during the fourth reich though. But you can’t win them all
We’ve been house hunting for many months now and this whole process is turning me into the joker. It is such a roller coaster to finally find a suitable home, put in an offer and get rejected, or otherwise find some huge problem. Thanks for listening

The innovation behind AI turns out to be the same "innovation" the business owning class has been trotting out forever: rentiership. It started with renting the land and home you live in and will end with renting the air you breathe. Or if genAI, renting the very ideas in your head.

I'll never ever forget me and my friends renting The Texas Chain Saw Massacre from Blockbuster as teenagers and putting it on expecting some campy schlockfest. 83 minutes later it was like we'd all been in a car accident. One of the great movie-watching experiences of my whole life.

This is all because Blackstone is buying up 175% of all new homes, and then renting them at sky high prices to the 5 million Somali families who stream across the Canadian border each month

it has never hit harder that I Am Thirty than it has renting a pair of ice skates this afternoon and realising
1) just because you were really good at something when you were 15 doesn't mean you are now
and
2) falling over is now the scariest thing in the world.

“In the years ahead, as more and more of what makes us who we are is gobbled up by fewer and fewer ghoulish robber barons, we’re all going to have to decide how much of ourselves we’re willing to keep renting from people who hurt us.”
I never thought I would walk away from Star Trek. I’ve written about it for a decade and I’ve eagerly shared it my entire life. But given who owns it now and who stands to profit from Trekkies’ loyalty, I can’t keep promoting it. The Trekkie in me won’t allow it.

Here’s why I’m beaming out.
I Can Say Goodbye To Star Trek Because Star Trek Raised Me
Star Trek instilled in me many of the same values that are taught in houses of worship across the world, but in my faith, there is no God to judge or punish me—I learned how to rely on my own moral co...

One end goal of "AI" is to end personal computing so big tech companies can fully be landlords once again; just like back in the era of renting time on timesharing mainframes.

Jeff Bezos said the quiet part out loud — hopes that you'll give up your PC to rent one from the cloud
Amazon's Jeff Bezos once revealed how he thinks of local PC hardware as antiquated, ready to be replaced by cloud options. Will DRAM prices make it come true?

They needed to do a study to figure that out? You would think the craigslist ads for renting out boxes in your living room or looking for the 12th roommate would have been a clue
