#change-makers
I've had to change my view of the Expos doc somewhat after Stephen Bronfman told me yesterday that the makers of the film NEVER contacted him and that even after he reached out to them, they didn't ask him a single question.
This is unacceptable and unprofessional. Bronfman should have been first.

I foresaw that possibility (like many) and while I was a little gleeful that the arrogant German car makers finally might get the beating they deserve for their behaviour and their attitude towards cars and mobility, I’m also shocked that they really didn’t change to avert the fate of the dodo
EU car exports to China are in freefall. For a time, the North American market offered Europe’s carmakers an important offset from the China shock. But this cushion is now vanishing due to US protectionism.

Infusing tea with wolfsbane, canthrox, and lupidin may just turn you into a wolf. One wonders what exactly was going on in the product testing room.

My FAVOURITE take-away was their highlighting of FIVE traits that helped these women change-makers be successful:

1. Lead with empathy
2. Have a long term plan/vision
3. Emphasize an understanding of “care work” (ie. care giving and family supports)
4. Build alliances
5. Value impact over power

It’s like a Douglas Adams story. Billions of dollars spent on a machine that consumes incredible resources. Earth has blown past 4C. Fresh water is gone. But at last it’s done. The makers ask, “How do we solve climate change?” The machine whirs and responds, “You can switch to solar 100 years ago.”

It's amusing that you can find almost the exact moment the makers of Red Dwarf discovered what a rimmer was, and that's between doing an episode called Rimmerworld and deciding to change the title of "Natural Born Rimmers" the following season.

For queer leaders and change-makers, moral relativism is not moral compromise, it’s moral maturity.

My latest article exposes the political consulting firm that turned the Bernie movement into a $134M cash cow
"Firms like Middle Seat build myths. They provide a costume and a template for candidates to cosplay as populist change-makers, even when their records tell another story."
The $134 Million Firm that sold the myth of John Fetterman
How a so-called “progressive” consulting firm turned Bernie’s movement into a cash cow and establishment tool.

I’m very tired of sending emails like this, so it wasn’t my most coherent, but I felt I had to tell council not to fucking do a staff report on licensing ebikes & escooters. If you want to, too, you can easily email all of them here: hfx.bike/email-council/

am not someone who looks out too far, tbh, that job is best left to policy makers. am more interested in change at the margin, and what matters today is food prices were lower m/m, which is definitely a dovish surprise.

Yeah I only happened to catch it on social, I dislike that station outside the game broadcasts. I take everything Rube says with a huge grain of salt. I doubt any decision makers are confiding in him. Feels like he's projecting. I also think the "change for change's sake" idea is very flawed.
