“To know that you do not know is highest. To not know but think you know is flawed.”

Are you making this mistake in your leadership?

Without it, you have no integrity.
Standing up for what's right and trying to make a difference can be HARD!

So what CAN you DO?

DM if you want to strategize how you can make a difference as a queer leader.

Alongside 175+ organizations across Canada, including leading 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations like @egalecanada.bsky.social, @fiertecappride.bsky.social, Pride at Work Canada, Enchanté Network & Dignity Network Canada, we are sounding the alarm about potential cuts to Women & Gender Equality Canada (WAGE)
Leadership is about how you act, behave, and show up in the world with integrity—not a specific role or job title.

I’m curious:

Agree or disagree?

Share your reasoning in the comments.
Instead, leadership is about the values you embody, how you lead yourself, and the heartfelt mission you are pursuing to make a difference.

Whether that’s behind the scenes or in public, what matters is your conviction.
Here’s how I define leadership.

Leadership is a broad scope of meaningful actions that can’t be dogmatically defined.

To lead and to be a leader doesn’t mean you must manage or supervise people—nor does it require you to stand for a specific cause in the public eye.
What's the ONLY thing that will make a real difference? (It's not what you think.)

Do you agree with me? Yes or no?
Blame is backward-facing. It assigns fault for something that’s already happened, involves judgment, shame, and punishment. It focuses on who caused the problem, who’s “at fault,” and leads to defensiveness or avoidance rather than growth or understanding.

Where morning routines get really messed up is when people insist, “You have to wake at 4am, splash your face with a tonic, take apple cider vinegar, go for a run — follow my template or you’ll never accomplish anything.”

Nonsense!

Do your work, then step back: the only path to serenity.

The challenge as a leader is knowing when enough is enough.

In this video, I reflect on a line from the Tao Te Ching, “Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity,” and how it speaks to queer change-leaders who feel pressured to overwork, over polish, or perfect everything.
