Thanks to some wonderful hospitality and walk round the neighbourhood from this passionate church community. Wonderful to begin exploring possibilities for community development, change makers and pioneers here.
Left early this morning driving our wonderful Change Makers up to Holy Island. First session on resilience with the amazing @scottbrennan12 and Faith. What helps and hinders our capacity for resilience along with thinking about the island as a ‘thin place.’
Great to spend time with the WCT youth work team helping them reflect on what’s strong in their practice and their team and how they might build on those strengths in an ABCD manner to grow their impact with young people
Got my backside handed to me at squash tonight
Well done team for our Halloween event - as always we loved seeing lots of local families
Wasn’t very successful but loved our game of poker last night mainly for catching up on life and having some laughs with brilliant friends
Isla and Coco weren’t up for a selfie but were with us as we walked and stopped off for a cuppa.
I’m not in it this year so will be in the audience on the Saturday night. Do come and join me in having some slightly inappropriate laughs and support our wonderful community actors!
Love this initiative from organisation I was a founding trustee of and now do my Community Treasure work with. Hoping I get a bit of time to do some volunteering for this but do help and support if you can
Really looking toward to my trip to Australia - Queensland and Victoria. Delivering a whole bunch of workshops, talks, journeying with some neighbourhoods, and this is going to be one of my highlights talking about what I’m passionate about - faith and community building
Thanks to the bank for their community room as trustees and our Director reflected on feedback from volunteers last night and the next strategic steps for our Development Plan. Privilege to be reelected Chair and we may have two new trustees!
Absolutely brilliant couple of days in Darlington. Meeting with Rotary then AGM with staff, trustees and volunteers where we explored our strategic priorities together. Most heartening was ‘this is the best volunteering experience I’ve ever had.’ Big shout out to Martin and Mel (M&M) who lead
Love youth work! Tonight we did the chocolate game and the flour cake game plus cat and mouse at the end. Lovely to see a young person whose struggled a bit to regulate himself in previous week, really take part positively
Pub food in front of a fire before the DACYM/Listening Post AGM. Pie of the day was excellent!
I absolutely love accompanying the team at Worcester Community Trust along with my wonderful evaluator friend Carol. Learning circle, coaching for the youth work lead, and then stayed for after school and youth clubs. Parachute, cooking and just seeing great team in action.
Wonderful time yesterday evening as we celebrated the journey we have been on together for 13 or so years as the Big Local Partnership otherwise known as Firs and Bromford Neighbours Together. People passionate about our community and building friendships together along the way
My mate and shalom co-conspirator @ashbarker1969 talked about this with our accredited Change Maker group this week. Passion by itself risks burning itself out, perseverance by itself can result in joyless duty.
The minister is a friend of mine - it will be a good and impactful place to work for the right person jesmond-urc.org.uk/community-de...
Brilliant to hang out with these wonderful people at Birmingham City FC hospitality and then sit behind Jasper Carrot and Stephen Knight of Bond script fame, for the game.
The rain didn’t put us off - walk and breakfast with Isla, Ria and Coco
Great to be invited to ViP at Blues this afternoon as part of my work with the clubs community foundation. Brilliant to be with my good friend @alan.crawford.94 and @fidelisnavas the excellent Director of the Foundation at Warwickshire cricket who I’m also hopefully about to embark on some work with
43 miles with @gearupcc this morning. Unfortunately got cramp last few miles so had to drop off the back of the group
amazing week finishing with a day at the Greenhouse. First cohort of our new Certificate in Sustainable Community Leadership or accredited Change Makers program. Thanks to Alysen and Toyin for their expert input. What a joy to do this with my great friend and fellow shalom seeker @ashbarker1969
Been at it 32 years and still love doing youth work. Games and quiz night
