It's impossible to compare the GMs, era to era. Sam Pollock, Frank Selke Jr. and Kent Hughes. In a 32-team era, no one is going to win five Stanley Cups in a row.
But given the complexities of the NHL in 2025, Kent Hughes is a stunningly brilliant, capable man. What he has done blows my mind.

If Kent Hughes doesn't win the NHL executive of the year award there should be an investigation.
He has one player left to sign and he will have a young core all under long-term contracts that no team in hockey can match.
And next time I hope certain media loudmouths will have a little faith.
