this is like an inverse, bastardized version of Arthur C Clarke’s short story, 9 Billion Names of God, where some jaded, atheistic programmers build a PC that can record all the names of god for some monks they consider rubes and take their money but, when the PC finishes, the apocalypse kicks off

I understand you've had some bad experiences with people who are atheistic before.
Considering that, I don't know how atheists are supposed to talk about this in the open more, as they are not only a minority that gets targeted even in 2025, but they have no organized structure.

Imposing of philosohphies/religions goes with power--be it pagan, Christian, Muslim, or atheistic communists. Again, it' goes back to power. Christians who enslaved were not following either the Supreme Law (love) or the golden rule. Hence, not really disciples of Christ.

Yes, atheistic regimes like the Bolsheviks and the Khmer Rouge have famously ushered in deeply humanistic societies. (Also not all religions are theistic. The more than half a billion Buddhists might like a word, for example.)

As an atheistic child, I didn’t trust adults who believed. It kind of scared me that grown ups could believe in fairy tales. And as a kid, I thought “what other weird things do they believe in?
