I really enjoy the collaborative aspect of FS because I've gotten so much help, but someone who is just slash and burning through another person's work, especially if they aren't related or didn't know that person, is just infuriating. I would totally lose it if she did that to my family tree.

So there's definitely an aspect of 'redemption involves making up for the sin that caused you to end up in hell'.
I imagine that Pent's backstory, if he'd even had one originally, was definitely changed between the pilot's 'cartoonish bad guy' and the series's 'capable of redemption' though.

This is definitely where the line is kind of fuzzy. Early TTS is non controversial because people were paid to include their voices and a bot would only include a handful of options based on those consented builds. It gets unethical when you lose the consent aspect.
